New Roseau mayor installed this week

Lucy Belle-Matthew

The City of Roseau now has a new Mayor.

Lucy Belle-Matthew of Fond Cole was elected unopposed by the newly elected council this week. This followed her victory at the polls during the Roseau City Council Elections in March 2026.

She replaced Sandra Irmine Royer who had served two consecutive terms as mayor beginning January 2020, then being re-elected in March 2023.

Belle-Matthew, who represented Ward 4, received a total of 408 votes while her opponent Sherman Boston received 267 votes.

“Profoundly grateful to my fellow councillors for having placed their confidence and given this opportunity, as Mayor elect for the City of Roseau with a unified  approach and hard work we will make that difference to move our City and municipality forward,” Belle-Matthew said. “Sleeves rolled back.. Work will start.”

An inauguration date for the new council has not yet been announced.

@Casandra Human rights orgs? Not the same organizations controlled by the big countries that call it how it suits them right?

Not necessarily those, although all welcome, as it looks like some ‘big countries’ realised the filth surrounding their policies and decided to get better.
Let’s see which ones will work for the sake of their own (future) existence, credibility and authority.
I hear preparations’ve already started abroad, some are already here doing their observations.

Because business as usual is no longer acceptable, and heads will fall.
      Because it’s time for justice.

Not so fast Cas, it’s not getting better as if one is making real progress for your people first. Ever heard they’re in Burkina Faso’s forward thinking progress, suddenly human rights🤔 hmm?

    I leave this here.

My landlord just came to tell me that immigration wants to speak to me tomorrow.
Because of their abuse (1st – 10th April), which I reported on this platform, I do NOT give my consent to be contacted by immigration in any way – I refuse to see them!

I ask international human rights organisations to come to Dominica and ask for accountability.

And I ask permission to be granted for the Russian diplomats.
