Eighteen individuals and one organization are set to be bestowed with Meritorious Service Awards during the upcoming celebration of Dominica’s 47th Independence anniversary on November 3, 2025.
A media release from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM Dominica) shared that among those recognized posthumously are former Prime Ministers Roosevelt Bernard “Rosie” Douglas and Pierre Charles, who, as reported by Dominica News Online, will be awarded the nation’s highest honor, the Dominica Award of Honour, in acknowledgment of their exceptional contributions to the country’s development.
In addition, three prominent figures will receive the second-highest accolade, the Sisserou Award of Honour. These include Mr. Samuel Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of the International Airport Development Company; Reverend J Evans Dodds, a leading religious figure; and Dr. Basil Fadipe, a medical doctor.
The OPM also revealed that the Meritorious Service Award will be conferred upon several individuals, including Ms. Hannah Clarendon for her work in Agriculture and Trade; Mr. Lennox Abraham for Child Welfare and Sports; Mr. Titus Francis for Community Development and Local Governance; Dr. Victor Emanuel in Medicine; Mr. Boniface Lloyd for Religion and Agriculture; Mrs. Shirley Augustine in Nursing and Health Management; Mrs. Anita Bully for Culture and Creative Industries; Mr. Hague Thomas in Environmental Health and Community Development; Mr. Prosper Paris in Culture and Community Development; and the 3rd Mahaut Scout Troop, recognized for Youth Development and Volunteerism.
Additional awards, such as the Services Medal of Honour, will be presented to Mr. Elroy Pioche for Agriculture and Community Service; Mr. Ibrahim Brohim for Business; Ms. Caesarina Ferrol in Nursing; and Mr. Irving Williams for Public Service.
The ceremony honoring these outstanding contributors will take place on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium during the Independence Day celebrations, starting at 5:00 PM.
Nobody from Marigot or UWP supporters from Salisbury qualified for an award? Just asking for a friend.
You are right Mel,you should have nominated UWP for being the shortest and most corrupt political party to occupy the seat of government in the history of Dominica.
When the best a political party that claims to be doing so good is to run the treasury broke and have to constantly be buying support and loyalty …. go figure …
I helped to call UWP all the corrupt in the world it have. Little did I know I would live to see real corruption. Tanto tanto
Finally I see Mr. Hague Thomas is being recognized for his contributions. This one is very well deserved because this man served Dca as a volunteer in the then Dominica Defence Force (DDF), School Teacher and Environmental Health Professional if I recall properly. Very well done the legendary SUPPA and congratulations in order. Long overdue!
I not even wasting my time to see which 19 will be honored because I already know is th 19 parlreps of Skerrit
I will be back for the comments
Off course you will.
But, don’t just read the beff, a few except JJ Charles-aka Trump, Ibo, labour.. ..could be enlightening, eye-opening.
