Football enthusiasts from the northern and northeastern regions of Dominica are preparing for an exhilarating display of local talent as the Possie Cup (Invitational) Tournament gets underway at Benjamin Park in Portsmouth.

Organized by the Portsmouth Bombers Football Club, this six-team competition aims to showcase the skills of some of the island’s top clubs in a structured format.

A team release said it is designed to foster football development, enhance community involvement, and deliver top-notch matches for players and supporters alike.

Participating Teams and Group Breakdown

The tournament features two groups:

Group A:
– Roosevelt Skerrit Bombers FC
– Marigot FC
– BAA Sharks United FC

Group B:
– Central Credit Union Dublanc FC
– Calibishie FC
– North Side FC

Each team will compete within their respective groups, with the most successful sides moving forward to compete in the final match for the coveted title.

Purpose and goals of the Possie Cup

According to organizers, the primary aim of the Possie Cup is to generate competitive football matches while nurturing collaboration among clubs in Dominica’s northern football scene. The tournament also seeks to:

The action kicks off on Thursday, March 5, 2026, with a match between the host team, Roosevelt Skerrit Bombers FC, and Marigot FC at 7:00 PM at Benjamin Park. The fixtures will continue over several weeks, culminating in the grand final scheduled for Sunday, March 29, 2026.

Event goals and recognition

Beyond the competition, the Possie Cup aims to celebrate the sport’s role in community building and regional pride.

The organizers expressed,“The Possie Cup represents a celebration of football, community spirit, and the continued development of the game in Dominica.
