Nova Experience stands as Dominica’s newest cultural and entertainment initiative, serving as a platform that highlights Bouyon music while integrating various other musical genres. The show’s organizers recently issued a press release describing the innovative event as the result of a collective effort by dedicated music enthusiasts and industry experts, all sharing a common goal: to elevate Bouyon—Dominica’s high-energy, boundary-crossing musical style—onto a prominent stage.
Founded with the purpose of amplifying and supporting Bouyon artists, Nova Experience says it provides opportunities for performers to showcase their talents both on stage and within the community. The organizers believe that Bouyon warrants a broader platform where it can creatively intersect with different musical styles, fostering a richer, more diverse musical landscape.
The event’s guiding principle, according to its founders, is encapsulated in the phrase ‘Where genres cross paths, Bouyon leads the way,’ which they say reflects its core philosophy. Acknowledging that Bouyon’s fusion of traditional elements such as jing ping, cadence lypso, bele quadrille, chante mas, lapo kabwit, and contemporary electronic rhythms creates a versatile, energetic foundation, they add that it naturally lends itself to collaboration with genres like soca, dancehall, and others. A foundation they consider as positioning Bouyon to be the leading vocal force in a vibrant musical synergy.
“We are committed to showcasing Bouyons infectious beats, vibrant creole storytelling and cultural resonance, while inviting other musical styles to dance along. Nova Experience invites you to our first Bouyon Festival carded for Tuesday 21, October at the Newtown Savannah starting from 5 PM,” stated a press release from the organizers.
They further said that the festival is designed to serve as a catalyst for fostering cultural pride, artistic collaboration, and musical innovation, promising a fusion of music, dance, art, lifestyle, and community engagement.
Supporters and interested attendees are encouraged to follow Nova Experience across various social media platforms, where they can access promotions and giveaways. The event’s social media pages include Facebook (Nova767), TikTok (nova.experience6), Instagram (novaexperience767), and YouTube (NovaExperience-d7c). Fans can also purchase early bird tickets through the shopdm platform by scanning QR codes on event flyers or visiting the provided links.
More than just a single event, Nova Experience is envisioned as a movement that celebrates Dominican tradition, sparks creativity, and champions the island’s most exportable sound.
