STATEMENT: FRS Express Des Iles

For nearly 40 years, our company has consistently and reliably provided maritime services between the islands, often as the sole operator meeting the mobility needs of the population. We have always fulfilled this mission with dedication, doing everything possible to ensure the best service despite technical constraints and the unpredictable nature of maritime transport.

During school holiday periods, in particular, we have responded to the growing demand for schedule flexibility and adapted our planning to meet the needs of the population.

Today, we are facing an exceptional situation. One of our vessels, which is 20 years old, has been immobilized for mandatory heavy maintenance work. Although this was scheduled, the execution time has been extended, forcing us to operate all our rotations with only two vessels for over a month to reply to the demand of transport for the population. This temporary reorganization has placed a heavy operational burden on the remaining two units, leading to regrettable technical consequences:

On Friday, October 17, 2025, a serious breakdown occurred on one of these vessels, further reducing our operational capacity.

We are therefore compelled to temporarily modify the overall organization of our trips for the All-Saints’ holiday period.

We are doing everything in our power to maintain passenger transport during this high season period and remain committed to serving the population with the highest level of professionalism and care.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and extend our heartfelt thanks to our passengers and all stakeholders who have supported us over the years for their continued understanding and loyalty. Our teams are fully mobilized and working tirelessly to restore normal operations as swiftly as possible.

We are also expecting the arrival of our additional vessel, TOPAZE EXPRESS, at the end of the year. This new unit will allow us to further improve our regularity and reliability, ensuring the continuity of connectivity between the islands.

My people please think outside the box.

you may ask why but in time to come you all will see who thy are.
As simple as we may take this world creole music festival to be, it is a very big thing in the eyes of some of our so called friends who would love to take it over.

Considering the importance of the ferry service to Dominica for trade, tourism, creole music festival, our hucksters, and access to the regional markets to push our agricultural produce, how comes no Dominica government has ever seen it fit to invest in a Dominica Ferry Service?

If the government invested in everything, you would be back here complaining that the government is competing with the private sector or is a communist government or Skerrit not leaving room for poor malayways to invest in something and make ah money. Think carefully of what you request.

Well dat alone will daycalay the wcmf because a very high percentage of it came from. Guada and through the ferry. I also believe the presence of the US Navy in the Caribbean Sea and bombing boats might have played a part too . PM plan crash boy. I just wish that had happened during election so Skerrit would not be able to bring down more thugs to help him steal our election.

Don’t be so short sighted. Dominica and the building of our economy is more important than Skerrit. Skerrit does not care about things like that. He and his CBI money and agents will still be okay. Dominica is hurting but Skerrit is okay. Like Maduro in Venezuela, Diaz-Canel in Cuba and dictators everywhere, they always live well while their people suffer. Dominica needs its own national ferry service.

As the US continues to go after Maduro and his corrupt gangs of drug dealers in the Caribbean Sea, I myself even scared of traveling through the Caribbean Sea on boats because you just can’t tell what these corrupt people will do that can put all of us in trouble
