Officials say plans for Carnival Road Parade 2026 are going better than previous years

Coordinator of the Road Parade Committee, Charlene White-Christian, has announced that more than 60 groups have already registered to participate in the Road Parade for the opening of Mas Domnik 2026.

She made the announcement during a press conference this week.

The event is scheduled to begin from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM in the City of Roseau.

“We begin at 2:30 PM.  We are asking all registered groups,  individuals who are to be on parade, including all our contestants, our floats and our DJs, our music trucks, we are asking you to be there by 1:00 PM latest. We will be there as members of the Road Parade Committee from 11:00 AM, so we can guide you as to your parking, and to ensure that we have no bottlenecks when it comes to moving out.”

She continued, “ The parade begins at 3:00 PM, immediately after a short opening.”

White-Christian explained that during this short opening, the keys to the City will be handed over.

Furthermore, she added that costume builder Mr. Darnley Guye will be honoured as Mas Domnik 2026 Personality of the Year for his contribution for over 50 years, from costume building to parade organization, craftsmanship, and leadership.

“So far, we have over 60 groups registered for the opening.  And this is very good. Normally, every year at this time, by this press conference, we don’t have half of this. I have to implore and beg persons, but this year, we are very happy that persons came on board because it’s going to be a fantastic year.  It’s the Bouyon year,” White-Christian stated.

She indicated that the numbers are subject to change, “because this is as of this moment, as I am speaking.”

She explained that if any other groups register, numbers may have to be shifted around.

yah but we de citizens need to see a comprehensive plan from the government and police service on how they are going to deal with and control violence on our streets. The year has started rather violent. Too many incidents of violence being brought on our own citizens. It’s really appalling to see the number and gravity of violence that we are seeing and experiencing since the beginning of the year. This is serious. Some of our citizens will not participate in Mas Dominic if this continues. Some are very scared to even go out of their homes or visit Roseau. This issue ought to be treated with haste as time is not our friend. The police and other bodies should come together to develop a plan. The government should announce how this issue is going to be dealt with as we know visitors love to participate in our Mas Dominic. It is one of our biggest national and cultural events and the issue of violence should/will put an ugly stain on our beautiful Nature Island Mas Dominic.
