The fate of two brothers charged with the July 5, 2017, murder of Glen Joseph Alphonse is in the hands of High Court Judge, Justice Richard Floyd and the other, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
This, as Jerimiah Gustave has pleaded guilty to the murder of Alphonse while his co-accused, Randolph Gustave has pleaded not guilty.
On the aforementioned date in 2017, 29-year-old Alponse was approached and shot in the chest whilst on a public bus in Eggleston.
The incident which is said to have occurred about 1:30 p.m was done in the presence of other passengers aboard the vehicle.
The Giraudel man was transported to the then Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) where he was medically examined and pronounced dead.
Subsequent to the shooting, the police were in search of the Gustave brothers who were said to have been in hiding for over a week. However, on July 13, 2017, the men surrendered to the police in Eggleston accompanied by their attorney.
In 2021, at their arraignment, the brothers had pleaded not guilty to murder. However, earlier this month when the pair appeared before Justice Floyd, Jerimiah changed his plea.
Following guilty plea, the presiding Judge ordered psychiatric and social inquiry reports for the convict by November 25, and set sentencing for December 2, 2022.
As it relates to Randolph, the office of the DPP is to decide on the way forward with his case.

This is still a very painful situation for me, Glen being my nephew, the child of the closest sister to me. I can feel her grief, up to today.
These two boys took the Life of my nephew and it does not matter how many years they spend behind bars, it will never be justification for taking my nephew’s Life from him.
They had no right to do that, especially that they did it through nothing but cold mischief and the devil’s conduct of wickedness.
The unfair part is that one of them is allowed to plead not guilty, so why was he hiding with his brother, if he thought he was innocent of the crime?
But God Almighty of Heaven and Earth is above all Authority and Power of the Earth, it is Justice alone that must prevail. By my faith I will continue to call upon Him to exercise His fair Justice.

When it comes to me and WILFUL murderers, i have no face…I am one of those if only i had the power, i would bring back the gallows for all wilful murderers…Just take a gun and shoot a man, and i send you to prison?
