A single passenger survived the Air India flight that crashed shortly after takeoff, claiming the lives of at least 200 people, according to media reports. The crash occurred Thursday afternoon near B J Medical College, in Ahmedabad, involving flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner traveling from London.
Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik confirmed to ANI that the survivor was seated in seat 11A, located just behind an emergency exit in the Economy class section. The passenger, identified as British national Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, was seen walking injured towards an ambulance shortly after the crash, which happened within minutes of takeoff.
Indian media reports indicate that Ramesh, 38, was able to escape the wreckage due to his proximity to the emergency exit. He recounted to hospital staff that the incident occurred suddenly, saying, “Thirty seconds after take-off, there was a loud noise and then the plane crashed. It all happened so quickly.” He also showed his boarding pass, confirming his identity and seat number.
The flight’s passenger list included 169 Indian nationals, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian. The crash site, located in a residential area near Ahmedabad airport, has complicated rescue efforts and raised concerns about additional casualties.
According to seating plans, seat 11A is situated in the first row of Economy class on the aircraft’s right side, just behind the emergency exit, which may have played a role in Ramesh’s escape. A video taken moments after the crash shows him walking injured and being surrounded by bystanders asking about the fate of other passengers.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and the death toll is expected to rise as rescue operations proceed. This is a developing story, and further updates will be provided as new details emerge.
Sad as it is for for the death of 241 people, of the 242 aboard, one person survived the crash! “The Ahmedabad police confirmed that the passenger who sat in the seat 11A, was seen walking around, in a white tee shirt, and dark trousers that was barely scorched.”
There is a video of the man walking around at this very moment!
Luckiest guy in the world! Miracles still happen. To survive this horrific plane crash is nothing but a miracle. No one can logically explain how this one passenger survived.
He was the only passenger donning red at the time.lol.
