Six former monarchs are among twenty calypsonians who have secured a spot in that competition, after competing in the Calypso Quarter Finals on February 1, 2025. The six are Bobb, Karessah, Jaydee, Observer, Daddy Chess, and Tasha P.

The other calypsonians include Checko,  Joy, Checker, Lady Esse, Trendsetter, Nachel, Bingo, Sye, Danyan, Shanice, Webb, Abiyah, Shadow Flow, and Soul Puss.

President of the Dominica Calypso Association (DCA) Davidson Victor said the association looks forward to having a competitive semi-finals.

“We pray that the weather will be more favourable and we trust that the patronage is going to be massive, because the songs are really good and we look forward to the people flocking the forecourt,” he said. “We expect to have a very interesting and massive Calypso Semi-Finals for 2025.”

The show is expected to begin at 8:30 PM.

Tickets cost $50 in advance, $60 at the gate, and $70 seated. Tickets may be purchased at Depex Color Lab in Roseau and Bullseye Pharmacy.

The Grand Calypso Finals is set for Saturday, March, 1.

Listening to some of the songs it should be a competitive contest. May the weather hold fair and the judging be impartial.
