The Youth Development Department of the Ministry of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Community Development is set to hold its Short Course Certificate Award Ceremony on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 2:30 PM. The Youth Ministry issued a release sharing the details for this celebration, which will be held at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital Amphitheatre. The occasion will honor over 100 young individuals who have successfully completed a series of eight-week training programs conducted across various locations on the island.
The Ministry indicated that the training sessions, which took place from November 2024 through November 2025, aimed to provide youth aged 16 to 35 with practical, market-ready skills that enhance employability, foster entrepreneurship, and support personal growth. The courses were offered at no cost to participants and covered seven different communities, with one program conducted entirely online to maximize accessibility.

Graduates will be acknowledged for completing one of nine specialized modules: Small Electronic Repair, Basic Sewing, Canva & Photoshop Design, Financial Literacy, Beginner Videography, Digital Devices Maintenance & Repair, Digital Literacy, and Public Speaking & Leadership Presence (delivered online), as per the release.
In addition to technical skills, all training programs incorporated weekly Soft Skills Workshops, which focused on communication, teamwork, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, workplace culture, leadership, stress management, and time management—ensuring a comprehensive approach to youth development.
It is expected that, as with previous cohorts, many graduates will leverage their new skills to start their own businesses, gain employment, or pursue further advanced training.
The Youth Development Division said it remains committed to broadening opportunities for young people through initiatives like the Digital Literacy & Work Readiness Program, the Heavy Equipment & Truck Operations Program, and community-based leadership and life skills workshops.
The team said it “looks forward to celebrating the accomplishments of the Short Course graduates” and it further reaffirmed its “commitment to supporting youth empowerment across Dominica.”
