This photo and the video below, circulating on social media, depict a collapsed section of one of the structures within the new Dominica Grammar School building complex, which is currently under construction.
The government has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident which occurred earlier today. However, DNO is monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
Oh, so that’s what they mean by resilient and sustainable. A bit like the apartments and housing that’s falling apart in places like Castle Bruce and Bellevue Chopin. They can’t withstand hot air, let alone hurricane. I hear these contractors complaining all the time about government ministers and their friends demanding free building materials. This particular contractor ought to find himself in court and suspended from operating. This could have been so much worse. In any serious country, this would be headline news, a massive scandal, heads would roll. But not here. Here, nothing will happen and sewo life will just go on.
I heard the said contractor has been allowed to continue building. I don’t put anything pass this inept administration. However, that assertion has to be false.
This contractor and his company should be banned for life from any construction in Dominica. Not even a dog house he should be given a permission to build.
Is anyone injured or trapped underneath it? The contractors undertaking this construction have a lot of questions to answer.
What a disaster it would have been if this building was occupied by staff and students. Who is monitoring, inspecting and assessing the shabby construction that is on going at this site?
Everything is lax in this place. Safety is not given the priority it deserves. All things concerning government seem to be done in an ad hoc manner. Roosevelt and his cabinet of sluggards should be booted from office. They are a clear and ever present danger to the lives of the citizenry. These people win elections by chicanery and skulduggery but they cannot govern.
Looks like it is that long delayed auditorium roof. Scary!
Thankfully it collapsed now. And not later when full of school kids.
It’s either flawed engineering or rushed/shoddy construction. Or a combination.
(I know I’m being captain obvious here).
Whatever, we need a full transparent investigation.
Hope no one was injured.
lesson # ???
I just knew that the Goodwill school will be completed before de Grammar School
I wonder if there are a few well thought out errors in de foundation too???
de contractor got lots of high praise eh
think like you are a student sitting in class at Grammar school and to witness a scene like this
you guys rememer all the petro carib houses that were ALL LEVELED . EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM DURING MARIA?
that colaspe is just a picture of what is being built in dca . from apartments that leak , built with sub par concrete by the highest friend of the gov bidder that can give ministers kickbacks
or used as ways to launder or hide money
dominicans thats ur future right there
@the CLOWN
Your buffoon.
Well this collapse had nothing to do with hurricane Maria, (a category 5 hurricane) . Every Dominican would stay quiet if the building was brought down by hurricane Maria, because it was a monster storm. But the collapse happened on a bright and sunny day in June?. Can you read? Luckily no children were occupying the building.
What a CLOWN you are.
When you have nothing to say why can’t you stay quiet, you semi illiterate. Do you like the name CLOWN?
you must be dotish or just lacking comprehension if you actually think that he was implying that the collapse happened because of a hurricane
he just made a reference to that event that was all
you should have stayed in school . instead of coming and comment on someone’s statement that you have no understanding off
