PM attends 48th CARICOM Heads of Government meeting

Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit will attend the 48th Regular Meeting of the CARICOM Heads of Government. This is according to a press release issued by the Office of the Prime Minister.

The meeting is scheduled for February 19 to 21, 2025, in Bridgetown, Barbados. The theme for the gathering is “Strength in Unity: Forging Caribbean Resilience, Inclusive Growth, and Sustainable Development”, with the agenda encompassing several crucial regional priorities.

These include climate change, food and nutrition security, financial sustainability, the situation in Haiti, regional security, digital resilience, and the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).

Furthermore, said the release, discussions will address matters of maritime and air transport, along with reparations. These topics will be covered over the two-day summit.

While Prime Minister Skerrit is away, Hon. Dr. Irving McIntyre, Minister for Finance, Economic Development, Climate Resilience and Social Security, will assume the role of Acting Prime Minister.

Yet another pleasure trip for Roosevelt. Can DNO do the taxpayers a favour? Can you calculate how many $millions have been spent from the public purse on the leisurely overseas joyrides for the entire span of Roosevelt’s tenure as prime minister. I’m sure the accurate amount would shock the world even his most diehard adherents. We have a right to know how taxpayers’ money is being spent.
