Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has publicly extended condolences to the grieving family of Kyan Brent Joseph in the wake of a tragic road accident on August 13, 2023, involving his son.
On the aforementioned date, about 12:30 p.m, Joseph, aged 27 of Gutter Village who resided in Tarish Pit, was riding his motorcycle west from Grand Bay on the Bellevue Chopin Road.
At the same time, Malik Skerrit was driving a Mitsubishi outlander in the opposite direction.
Information from the police is that the motorcycle and the vehicle collided resulting in serious injuries to Joseph and his female pillion rider.
Joseph was transported to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) for medical treatment. However, later that same day, he succumbed to the severe injuries he had sustained.
His female companion is nursing injuries at the DCFH.
Skerrit received no major injuries from the incident.
At a press conference on August 14, Prime Minister Skerrit stated, “As you all know, my son was involved in a vehicular accident yesterday and one of the persons involved has lost his life.”
He continued, “I want to extend my sincerest condolences as I have done privately to the family of Mr. Kyan Joseph. I cannot say much on this matter but I want to express publicly my heartfelt condolences and solidarity to his family.”
The police say investigation into the matter is ongoing.
I wonder if the CM would care to update us on the whereabouts of his son. Did he flee the country? Is he on vacation? Where is he gone to? Why did he leave the country in such a hurry???

DNO you need to bring this up again and put it on the front burner because I have never heard of an accident that resulted in a death and what we have as police gave that kind of report. Note people:
1. What was the registration number of Mitsubishi Outlander that Malik Skerrit was driving? Why was it left out? Was it a GA or private vehicle? Who moved the tag and where is it now?
2. What is the registration number of the motor cycle the deceased was riding? Why is this important information kept from us? Did they choose to keep it from us since they didn’t tell us the registration of the Mitsubishi Malik Skerrit was driving?
This is very fishy and we need to know the truth because there is something the police hiding from us. Was a GA on a ……….

P.M son took a flight yesterday at Melville Hall airport out of Dominica. Where is the Justice for the dead man and his family? Did the police conduct a thorough investigation into the accident? I don’t think so. when did the police take him in and question him on the possible cause of the accident? Corruption stinks all the way to the top. Looking at the video of the aftermath the bike was on the wrong side of the road, last time I checked we drive on the left side of the road in Dominica, this was clearly reckless driving on the riders part, and I’m sure we’ve all seen how he rides that bike like it’s open road for miles, it was just a matter of time.
It doesn’t matter if he was on the ‘wrong’ side of the road. Investigations must be thorough. No stones unturned and witnesses questioned.
Besides if a bike gets hit at speed it can land anywhere.

Why did the person involved in the accident leave state shortly after? Coincidence? Has the person in question returned from his travel yet? Has he made himself available to the Militia? Has he perhaps gained diplomatic immunity? Dominicans would do very well to follow up on this matter.

A mother and a father lost a son; his life is cut short, accidentally, willfully or criminally, he no longer exists; in any event all sympathy should go out to the family of the fatality.

Did the deceased youth do you any harm during his short stay on earth, why you seem to dismiss his valuable life and see him only as a chain wearing thug? The administration you support has failed most of the youth in Dominica by allowing rampant crime in the country. The police force is in disarray with discredited leadership, Melissa has her navy seals and thug brigade, so many unresolved murders and crimes, only a few are seen to be enjoying the eggs laid by the CBI initiative, so many criminals have been allowed to go scotfree by their cases being discontinued. What do you expect from many young people in such a state of polarization, disunity and open disregard for good governance. The CCJ has complained, the British government has slapped the government on the wrist for malfeasance regarding the CBI program. Unlike you, my condolences to the family left to morne.
