Prime Minister Skerrit has publicly expressed his support and concern following the major fire that erupted early Monday morning in Roseau.
In an interview with the media, he extended his sympathies to the many businesses and individuals affected by the blaze, acknowledging the distress it caused.
Skerrit emphasized that it was a regrettable incident, saying, “I can only imagine the anxiety of the many business people and one church was impacted, and the property owners. But thankfully, there were no reported fatalities associated with the fire.”
He acknowledged that the scale of the blaze was significant, while expressing gratitude that there have been no reports of anyone losing their life in the fire.
He also asserted that strong winds in the morning made the situation even more challenging for the fire services.
While saying that he was hoping for heavier rain to help contain the flames — he commended the fire crews for working in a “heroic manner” to combat the fire.
He also assured the public that authorities will continue to look into what caused the fire.
The investigation is ongoing, and once it’s complete, the findings will be shared with the community, assured the PM.
The intense blaze broke out on King George IV Street in Roseau, damaging several businesses and forcing the closure of one of the country’s leading pharmacies, Jolly’s Pharmacy.

Not a word from Roosevelt about any assistance for those of the working class who have suddenly found themselves unemployed to no fault of their own.
What is egregious and unconscionable is this fact. While those who were newly made unemployed face the stark reality of not knowing where their next paycheck is coming from, Roosevelt, his high maintenance wife, and their two American born children, continue to live in a $64 000 State rented palace, getting a combined income of over $30 000 per month, have access to the most luxurious vehicles on island, eat caviar, explore the entire world with the exception of Antarctica, and turn deaf and blind to the suffering and groans of the people.
Nothing lasts forever! There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when the day of reckoning comes.
I always felt that there was something behind that concert those prophets of Baal organized with Ahab and Jezebel and for the corrupt corrupt political agendas of Ahab and Jezebel. Those fake money hungry ministers of Baal told us the concert would bring a holy ghost fire in Dominica but instead what we got a day after that concert was distructive fire over Roseau that even left one of the ministers of Baal without a church.
I don’t know if that fire was Gods wrath or judgement and wheather it was man made fire or otherwise, what is sure is it came 24 hours after the ministers of Baal ended their concert on the behalf of, and for the glory of Ahab and Jezebel that are so deeply involved in their evil deeds
The worst combination possible is mixing ignorance, superstition and politics. That’s how you get comments like the one above. And then people wonder why countries like Dominica never develop. There are hundreds of people in the country holding important positions who think exactly like this.
