PM Skerrit to meet with Haitian community, write to French authorities in effort to stop people illegally entering and leaving Dominica

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said he plans to meet with members of the Haitian community this week to solicit their continued support to eliminate the illegal entry of Haitian Nationals entering and leaving the country.

Over the past few months, the police have arrested several individuals including a large number of Haitians for illegal entry into Dominica. Police say five vessels were intercepted.

“I intend to meet sometime this week with some of the respectable Haitian nationals in the country to speak to them and to solicit their continued support in containing and eliminating this practice so that we do not have the unfortunate circumstance in this country,” the prime minister said.

He said serious, decisive actions have to be taken as a government and a country to contain these activities.

“It is out of hand and the police have been asked and directed to increase their activities to contain and to curb these activities,” he stated.

Prime Minister Skerrit highlighted the need for the entire country to play its part in being vigilant and in informing the authorities of such activities that they may be aware of.

“Because if we do not say something, you may very well find yourself in these communities subjecting yourself to Covid-19,” he cautioned.

The prime minister also said that he has given instructions to write to the French authorities for more assistance in patrolling the waters between the two islands.

“I have also directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to write to the French authorities so that they too can do more to control the French waters and assist us in that regard so that people can’t lose lives in the channel.”

He said the government’s position is not intended to target any groups or individuals as the main objective is to stop the illegal practice in order to prevent COVID-19 from coming into the country through illegal means.

The illegal entry and exit of Haitians to Dominica could have been severely curtailed many moons ago. Skerrit is now crying foul after the just concluded general elections with MISSION accomplished. It was not a priority then for him.

Once this serial LIAR remains at the helm of government, law and order; good governance; democratic norms will continue to rapidly diminish. Dominica is the worst run country in the Caribbean. (worst economy, worst wages, worst electoral system, worst corrupt practices, worst political tribalism, worst police force, worst infrastructural development, worst healthcare, worst unemployment, worst environmental protection, worst ministers, WORST LEADER)

Here is some thing interesting, maybe that will cause Roosevelt to know why the Haitians  might be eager to leave his country!

If we lists the ten (10) poorest countries of the Caribbean we would find that:

Haiti rank number (1) one with a  GDP Per Capita ($US) of  874

Jamaica rank number (2) two with a GDP Per Capita ($US) of 5,393

Dominica rank number (3) with a GDP Per Capita of ($US) of 6,860

St. Vincent and the Grenadines rank number (4) with a GDP of 7,505

Now one leaving their country the poorest in the region to immigrate to the third poorest in the region, their life will not be much different in the third poorest nation, perhaps on the planet.

These people have an economic need which cannot be met or  fulfill in Dominica, hence they must move on to where they see greener pastures.

The question is why is Roosevelt apparently holding a gun to their heads to make them stay?

Ibo France, 3 high quality professional scientist trying to tell Dr Skerrit how to do his work and yet not one of you guys can do better for yourselves, for crying out loud you bunch of arrogant plunkers take a jump. Edison James, brainwashed you guys and can’t get out of it get a life and see the lights.

Shut up Dog Man; don’t even try to compare Roosevelt Skerrit in any way with Edison James!
In the first place Edison James, went to England attended University, and earn his degrees; he did not buy two honorary degrees with taxpayers money because he wanted people to honor him by calling him doctor!

Edison James degrees he can live by if he needs to work; Roosevelt cannot even sign or write his name as “Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit.”

        Did you know that?

Anybody who calls Roosevelt doctor have to be a fool!

So; I ask you, Dr. of what?

Let me tell you something,  Edison has educated many while he was headmaster at the DGS; I remember he taught someone very smart; hence he inform the boy father that his son has the potential to become a medical doctor.

What do you know that boy; a man today is a practicing medical doctor in Dominica; he is a relative of yours truly?

Edison James never thief any government money!

“Roosevelt Skerrit said he plans to meet with members of the Haitian community this week to solicit their continued support to eliminate the illegal entry”

That is the sentiment of a very weak man; whom has been manipulated like a puppet by the Chines, Ralph Gonzales, the man-woman Mia, and whoever he crossed path.

Here he profess to me prime minister, yet he is crawling on his belly like the yellow, and black two tone snake he is!

In as much as we want our population to grow, there is a legal way for that to become a reality.

If it is true, that people be they Haitians or people from other places entering the country illegally, that is a problem for the immigration to deal with.

And the only way is when caught they must be deported!

This crap about people leaving illegally, is hot smelling carbon dioxide gas !

I have never heard any government in the world complaining about people leaving their country illegally!

    Dominica is always the first.

The Dominican government is trying to treat our Haitians brothers and sisters as human beings but they are taking advantage of this as a result may put strain in our relationship with our French neighbors. We don’t even have enough resources and jobs for our youths, so why encouraging them to come to our shores? I am not against them coming here. Those who have something to contribute to Dominica economy can visit but mass immigration and trying to cause us pain is a no no.

the “Back Door Culture”, is one of seeking greener pastures, since we are sandwiched by 2 French colonies, making them part of the G20 nations, hence “first world nations”, where the standard of life is much better. we are a third nation burden with all the issues of “third world” nations, but principally, Poverty! until this poverty is not addressed we won’t see an end or even a slow down of the “Back Door Culture”. the only solution is to fix the economy, create employment, stamp out corruption especially in government.

Sak Pasay Papa Doc Skerrit. Is not we the Haitians to blame. We pay plenty money to travel to plane, to gouvernment of Dominica, to boat men.

Blame the plane that bring us to Dominica. Blame the gouvernment of Dominica that charge us $400.00 when we arrive to Dominica. Blame the boat men that charge us to travel to La Martinique, La Guadeloupe, Sint Martin, St Thomas.

Now my friend in Guadeloupe immigration say to me the French gouvernment going to put visa restriction on Dominicans. He said the problem is more for La Dominique than for France because we Haitians come from La Dominique illegal and we going back to La Dominique illegal. As you said recently “through the back door”.

So don’t blame Covid 19, speak the truth and tell us if the French going to impose visa restrictions on Dominicans in retaliation, and if so when?

  10. August 12, 2020

Folks soon the French government will place instructions on Dominicans these leaders in Dominica are soft only Dominica does not have restrictions on Haitians when they come to our shores,They are not welcome in Barbados,St.Lucia,Bahamas so many islands because they protects their country. The Haitians are seeking for better life so where ever they could find better life they will come in full numbers once they have the opportunity to travel to an country without restrictions.

Goood day Hon. PM. The only way to sort such an issue out is to improve border control and lock alll the porous borders in Dominica.
There are lots of guys on both sides making millions by transportation with fast boats.. Have you allllll sorted out alll the rogue and crooked guys with dem vesselsn, who see such thing as business?
Its like you sending a message to ya neighbor to say tie ya sheep, cow and other animals yet u ain’t erecting a fence.
If Haitians coming in , what about guns, and other illegal items…..
Lock the borders wit serious patrolling……
Honorable Pm you and Minister of National Security sort ya selves out….
    Them racketeering must stop….

  12. August 12, 2020

It’s the government fault a country like ours doesn’t have a great economy to allow Haitians to come in without restrictions,The Haitians come to Dominica for survival and when things not working the go to an other island backdoor And you can’t blame the boat owners as well because the government feeds them with Haitians.

Haitians are problem everywhere including their own country. Ask the Dominican republic. They will contaminate your political culture, they will do anything to satisfy their selfishness. however, they are very smart and will identify an opportunity and exploit it at any cost. Unfortunately, we used them during the last election therefor they are expecting compensation.. They will destroy our relationship both with our French neighbors and the US and British Virgin Islands.

How do we know the govt want to fly them back so early in the morning like a cloak & dagger thing because they may be material witnesses for the opposing in that election appeal case that is going on. If they are not here the opposite can not call them to testify that they may have voted illegally. You all ever think about that? I do not like that Haitian invasion but these people have rights too under the U.N. convention that we signed. Skerrit just want his cake and eat it. Disgusting really.

Mr Pm you cant be speaking out of both sides of your mouth on this issue. You cant say one day that ” Its part of our culture for people to come through the backdoor” and say another day that Haitians should stop entering and leaving the country illegally. How do you expect people to to take what you say seriously when you say these things?

During the last election campaign, the Punjabi circus master said that people were always coming to Dominica through the back door. Since at the time by turning a blind eye as he saw those persons involved as a way to help him retain the government. If it is a problem now and it was always illegal, then why did the double doctor not see that opposites always happen in life. There is up and down, in and out. If people feel it’s ok to enter illegally then there should be no problem leaving illegally. Skerritt is only taking action to try to stop this criminal act because the French authorities won’t tolerate it anymore. How can the leader of a country, the police chief and the minister of national security allow the territory of Dominica to be criminally violated? The same Skerritt goes on the airwaves and lectures the USA about territorial integrity, yet he seems to be facilitating the breaching of the territorial integrity of the country he’s the leader of. What a joke.

The best way to solve a problem is to nip it in the bud. The illegal migration of Haitians in and out of Dominica is nothing new to the relevant authorities . Many residents vociferously expressed alarm about this problem especially leading up to the last national election. Their cries and concerns went unheeded. Now the election is behind us, mission accomplished, we are getting this loud hullabaloo from the said authorities who deliberately ignored the protestations of law abiding citizens to this illicit activity.
As long as the present leadership of the government remains intact, Dominica will be bedeviled by lawlessness, abject poverty, opacity and astronomical unemployment among other negative things.
This is what’s happening in Dominica:
NO TRANSPARENCY = CORRUPTION = MASSIVE POVERTY = HOPELESSNESS

It is not that difficult Roosevelt for a guy like you. Just pass legislation to allow French vessels to enter our waters and pwork in cooperation with our coast guards in apprehending those carants. For a man who can take loan from the crapaud bank without passing it through the House first, that should be easy, don’t just pass our responsibility on to the French. Is our problem, don’t make it theirs. So typical of you. Secondly, do not let any Haitians in without them having approval first. Check the passenger list before you let that plane land at Melville Halland and stop that U.S. $100 cash payment at the airport because that is just a racket. If you want to make sure they pay us let them do so electronically before they come here so there is a trail. This is our problem and therefore yours too. Let me tell you, one day the French get so fed up with us they will block up our coast and what you going to do then, protest to the U.N. In New York? They already have the measure of you.

    • Pipo
      August 13, 2020

Sorry, it is a mistake I made. Apparently it is U.S. 400 a person cash the Haitians must pay at the airport before they are allowed in.

How about these “fishermen” that’s just given boats. Maybe put some money into the coast guard? idk
