This is a case of simple economics. These are “project” jobs that operate within a budget therefore it is safe to say that a certain dollar figure has been allocated for all positions including trucking. These truckers do not want to work for the wages being offered, same as the last time hence they’re left out in the cold. It was clearly stated last time and is clearly the case this time that it is not a situation where they are unable to find work but rather they are unwilling to work for the wages being offered. Why would anyone pay more for services if you don’t have to? Would you? Definitely not me.They’re free to go wherever they can get more money. No one is holding them back.
Whenever one applies for a position within a company, the employer lets you know how much the position pays. You can either accept or decline. Same scenario here, they can work for what’s allocated in the budget or they can move on. Their call.
I guess you have never heard of wage suppression and living below the poverty line! Yes, a man can be paid any low wage so that profits are greater for the capitalist, slavery was built along those lines!
Why do you think the UN set a poverty line? Why do you think that developed countries raise wages to match increased inflation! Paying low, poverty inducing, below inflations wages is perpetuating poverty like the NEP does! But this is the poor Dominica that the Dominican people must live in on minimum or below inflation wages while the Prime Minister enriches himself from public service contracts, sale of passports, increased ministers salaries, paid expenses and living in a tax payer rented mansion! Does this really sound fair to you? Well yes, slavery made sense to the House Slave while he could eat the crumbs from Massa table!
The PM is so far apart from the common man and women in Dominica π©π² that he can not relate. The late Rosie Douglas was a man of the people and for the people. The PM can relate but very little, just my opinion. St Kitts π°π³ PM is improving the day to day lives of Kitticians the Dominica π©π² PM is not really doing this .The problem is he thinks he really is improving dominica people standard of living.
Skerrit must remember just like his children bread well butter already so imagine the truckers that have children and not getting work when work is in the country and allowing foreigners to import trucks to do work in Dominica how frustrating that can be I leave out of Dominica but I clearly understand how them truckers feel the police them let them not get paid for at least 2 months and letβs see what happens dirty a.s police
Keep provoking the people Skerrit, you and the nobrainers of your Manicou Gang. I am 100% happy that at last, the truckers have shown the world that they can protest.ππππππInstead of liar Skerrit cowardly going to DBS last evening, i think he, as head of the Manicou Gang, should organize a rapid course for his police in conflict resolution. For too long on island, the police have been deliberately escalating conflict. I have seen it with my 2 eyes at UWP meetings and at peaceful protests.
We need more protests. This time boots on the ground demanding accountability for our/my CBI funds, for which the compulsive liar, Skerrit, cannot account for!!
WELL DONE TRUCKERS!
RESPECT!
1. No sir, with all due respect, the law does not require that the police terrorize and threaten citizens. They did not act within the responsibilities and duties (they never do). They always act, behave and conduct themselves in a weak, powerless and cowardice response to their massas’ bidding.
2. No sir, it is not about wanting for themselves- these people were a group asking for a collective resolve. It appears that if one individual receives a ‘hand out’ your goons’ will use this as an opportunity to point out what you did for one person and highlight the association of one individual to a group or groups.
3. Sir, why would the Chinese be allowed a higher rate at the onset of negotiations than the citizens?
4. Unfortunately, sir, your perception of reasonable is distorted.
It extremely difficult for me to listen to this arrogant, tone deaf, lying, rambling numbskull. I’m fully convinced that ha can no longer relate to the suffering and desperate plight of ordinary, struggling citizens.
This is what twenty years of living off the hog in extreme opulence do to you. You become insensitive and have no empathy for humanity. He has certainly overstayed his time in government.
Dominica urgently needs visionary leadership that will listen to the people’s cries; be inclusive; share the resources of the country equitably; leadership that always has the best interest of the local citizens at heart. Roosevelt is most definitely NOT that leader.
