Police Chief Davidson Valerie

Dominica has recorded nine homicides so far in 2024. This was according to Acting Police Chief Davidson Valerie.

According to the police chief, although homicide rates are lower when compared to the same period in 2022 and 2023: “One homicide is one too many and the police force must re-double its efforts to prevent any further increase in crimes.”

Furthermore, Valerie said this year, “We have seen the highest amount of cocaine seizure in Dominica within a [ four-month] period when compared to previous years.”

He stated that the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) has remained resolute in combating the challenges of natural disaster, crime activities, illicit drugs, and illegal guns and ammunition.

“The street value of these drugs amounted to 67 million Eastern Caribbean dollars,” he said.

“Eight individuals have been arrested while four have been charged and are pending trial,” he added.

Valerie indicated that the police presence and patrols have been improved in the city as well as urban areas and out districts.

“Notwithstanding there is a lot more improvement required,” he stated.

Today UWP have the police force DIRTY,they have been disrespecting and testing the force for years.Letting Bwa-Banday know, when Daddy O N Philip was chief of police,UWP would NEVER disrespect the police like they are doing today. The government is weak and the police force is WEAK to allow a handful of terrorists and enemies of Dominica to hold the island hostage. The DLP must call out it’s supporters in a massive demonstration.I have never seen a party take more bs than the Skerrit led DLP.

Unfortunately, Valerie did not discuss any efforts to address the growing number of cold cases that have yet to be solved. While a lower crime/murder rate is good news, solving cold cases and bringing those responsible to justice is also part of policing. He also failed to discuss his plans for traffic enforcement on island.

Cold cases can only be resolved with competent, trained and qualified investigators working in close coordination with the public and that we don’t have. Firstly the public don’t trust the police so critical information coming from them is non existent. Secondly, how many officers have been to FBI, DEA, or Sctland Yartd training? Very few if any because Skerro and the cabal afraid they will turn on him.

You see, back in the days you had O.N Phillip, Antoine Martin, Duke Savarin, Alpee Alfred, Theft Act (Old Hillaire) and Simon Darroux who got trained by prestigious institutions and in turn passed it down to subordinates. These guys walk down the streets and people would volunteer information without being asked a question. Oh the good old days of the CDPF when criminals , not the law abiding citizen, feared the investigative skills of the detectives at the CID. They knew they would get caught in whatever they did. Today CID means, Complete Idiotic Dotishes!

Like you I often decry the lack of traffic enforcement on our roads. One can get runoff the road on a drive from the airport to Roseau by those aggressive drivers. You will never, ever see the police doing traffic enforcement, ever, in the interior of the island. This has to be addressed. Writing tickets in Roseau should not be the only form of traffic enforcement.

The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) acts like an offshoot of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP). Their mandate is to dismantle any opposition to the government by brute force, intimidation and false arrests.

If a reputable organisation were to take a scientific survey, public support and confidence in the CDPF will be 0.1%. An abysmal statistic indeed.

The Police Force is comprised mostly of thugs and school dropouts led by a man who can barely put two coherent sentences together. You cannot expect efficacy from the hierarchy which is cmpoesed of political stooges who takes their orders and directions from a political leader with not even a modicum of scruples.

The CDPF instead of serving and protecting the citizens, they use their military hardware to intimidate, harass and arrest law abiding patriots.

Under the stewardship of Roosevelt and Valerie, instead of creating order, the police force creates disorder. Wholesale change is needed.

In 2023, the United States had a murder rate of approximately 6 per 100,000 people. By comparison, Dominica, with a population of around 72,000, has already recorded 9 murders—and the year isn’t even over yet. When adjusted for our population, this equates to roughly 13 murders per 100,000 so far.

A high murder rate is often a symptom of deeper societal issues, including economic inequality, poverty, and a justice system that is weak, corrupt, or ineffective. My fellow Dominicans, including my good friend Davidson, I urge us to focus our efforts on holding our government accountable. If we address the problems at the top, I am certain the entire nation will begin to heal.

I agree we will benefit from a change of government, however, if we’re talking social issues you’d run leave America and might as well throw a stone behind you.
