Police Chief commends DA on a ‘peaceful’ carnival season

Acting Police Chief Davidson Valerie

Carnival celebrations for 2025 are said to have gone by “generally peaceful” with a few minor offenses, Acting Police Chief Davidson Valerie said.

His comment came during a statement on Wednesday.

“The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force [CDPF] extends sincere thanks to the general public for their cooperation during the 2025 Carnival Season,” he said. “We are grateful for the support during the village and fringe events and the two days of street jump-up.”

He continued, “No major incidents were reported during the carnival events.”

According to Valerie, the support of the Carnival Organizing Committee and the public who were generally very cooperative must be commended.

“Six people were arrested for minor offenses islandwide,” he revealed.

Furthermore, Valerie stated that the successful policing of Carnival 2025 was largely due to the commitment of the dedicated officers of the CDPF whom he thanked very much.

“By and large we can conclude that Carnival 2025 was generally peaceful,” he noted.
