Police are investigating an alleged robbery at the St Joseph Village Council, which occurred at approximately 11:00 AM on Monday, March 16, 2026.
According to police reports, the complainant, identified as the Clerk of the St. Joseph Village Council, reported that an individual held her by the collar and removed a drawer containing an envelope with a sum of EC $6,332.00 (Six Thousand Three Hundred and Thirty-Two Dollars). The culprit then fled the scene with the money.
The complainant stated that she began screaming following the incident. She further reported that upon arrival at the St. Joseph Police Station, she was extremely traumatized and collapsed. She was subsequently transported to the St. Joseph Health Centre, where she was examined and diagnosed with elevated blood pressure.
Further reports indicated that the culprit escaped by running up the hill located near the Council Office.
Officers of the St. Joseph Police Station, along with several young men from the village, conducted a search of the surrounding area.
During the search, a black pair of trousers was discovered in the direction in which the culprit reportedly fled.
Police officers from the St. Joseph area are continuing investigation into the matter.
comedy….Hollywood in Dominica
Go get the rotwiller make it sniff the trousers. that where it strong. then let it follow the trail to the culprit. I know the rotwiller old and slow now but it converted to a sniffing dog and dont have to bark loud so put it to use
Seeing Bwa-Banday is from Mahaut,he should go to Mr.Philsbert Alpe Aimless Alfred,as him for some tips on investigation.Everybody in the village know when there is money in the village council office, because word will go around”dey paying weeeee”Bwa Alpe will tell you in cases of that nature the complainant is ALWAYS the first suspect.
I hear you loud and clear. That’s where we agree again. Man like Alpee and Duke Savarin aka The Muslim would have solved that already. Those were the good old days of policing when the community would collaborate with the men in uniform. But, Corbette is doing well inspite of some slackness and rear end sniffing when he started. I believe he will make sure that one is solved unless some cabalists tell him to stay out.
The information is fishy fishy.
Crime happens in every jurisdiction. However, in tiny Dominica, the murders, robberies, assault & battery, child abuse, rape & statutory rape, domestic abuse, vandalism, drug crimes, traffic offences, praedial larceny are much too high. This scourge is a phenomenon casting a dark shadow over the whole of the Caribbean region.
I viewed a program recently where the fifteen countries with the highest die rate were identified. Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago were on the list. If my memory serves me right, Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago were on the top five with T&T leading Jamaica.
We don’t want Dominica to get on this unenviable list. Crime is everybody’s business. We have to bolster our police force and beef up our justice system. Crime does not discriminate. It affects all of us. Therefore, it is imperative that the whole of society work together, hand in glove, to reduce this scourge to a negligible figure.
A society that empowers people keeps crime to a…
Good community spirit was shown by those who actively assisted the Police. Hats off to you!
Hmmmmmm!
Blood pressha up? Well, everyone is a suspect until proven innocent. But I smell a BIG RAT. How the robber knew the money was there? Who else knew the money was there? Who picked it up from the bank/ or from where it came? Which councilors were privy to that information? Who does she suspect since she would know a lot of the rouges and vagabonds in the village.
If this incident was well planned and executed like the guns stolen from the Senjo police station then nothing will happen. It is alleged that the cabal loves stealing from themselves anyway especially in the village councils purses. AYEEEE Dominique!
Advice to the police. Check that clerk.
In a robbery of this nature, in these times of moral decay, even the victim becomes a suspect. The police have to do a thorough investigation but no finger pointing nor wild accusations on the victim unless there is reasonable and articulable and convincing evidence implicating the injured party. Debate often too quick to cast aspersions on the victim without even a modicum of proof.
Something smells iffy.
How did he know that such a sum would be in the council offices?
In a tiny place like Senjo, everybody knows who the local scrote are.
Come on!
couldn’t agree more……. how’d he know there was money there ? no words no asking for anything just up and came for it eh ?
