Five firearms and a sum of money have been seized during recent police operations in Dominica. The announcement was made by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Inspector Alleyne Maximea during a press conference held Friday at Police Headquarters.
The operations were conducted with support from the Regional Security System (RSS), whose personnel are currently on the island assisting local law enforcement in efforts to eliminate illegal firearms.
“Members of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force, with the support of the Regional Security System [RSS], have been engaged in exercises islandwide,” Maximea stated. “To date, we have recovered five firearms and a sum of money, which was seized for the purpose of investigations.”
He confirmed that the operation is ongoing.

Maximea stressed that possession of an unlicensed or illegal firearm is a criminal offense.
“The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force is not going to tolerate, and will not tolerate, any person who has in his or her possession a firearm without the prescribed license,” he warned. “Members of the police force will not spare any effort in finding those persons and dealing with them in keeping with the provisions of the law.”
To maintain peace and security across the island, Maximea said the police welcome assistance from all sectors of society.
“We are therefore appealing to the citizenry, the churches, local groups, clubs, all civic-minded people to provide any information which will assist in the removal of these illegal weapons from our streets,” he urged.
He added, “I often say that there is no smart bullet, so it is the responsibility of all of us to join our efforts in getting rid of the illegal firearms which are on our streets.”
Maximea also thanked the officers who continue to work diligently to ensure Dominica remains safe and peaceful.
did de police arrest anybody at all?
how many people arrested ?
de public will say de police not doing their work thoroughly even with RSS involved
some will think perhaps there is some motive for this
you seized guns, ammunition and money…………..
was anyone arrested in Grand Bay, Roseau, Tarish, Gutter, Newtown, Bath estate, St Joseph???
is de police hiding something?
one actual fire arm alone that there
the rest are 2 toy guns and 2 pellet guns that looking like they stay outside in the rain for a month
Congratulation to the police, keep up the good work.Inspectors do not carry decorations on theircap, decorations are from the rank of . Superintendent and above.Bring back Nicholas Andropov George if he is NOT a traitor with intent to undermine.
So 2 air rifles ( pellet guns ) . A electric BB gun ( 6mm plastic bb ) . A co2 powered BB gun and 1 ACTUAL firearm. And them pellet guns looking like they from the 1960s. Leave them man and there pellet guns alone so they can shoot one 2 agouti to feed there families
Congratulations on your accomplissent so far!
Nonetheless, would it be too much to indicate where they were seized as well as the quantum of money ? Or would such revelation compromise State Security ?
Respectfully submitted.
no talk of arrest or where they were found or how much money,it all sounds very staged to me as if they just took it from the evidence room to give us the illusion of progress been made to justify the RSS being here, where they sleep, who’s feeding them, what’s there salary,I forgot, non of our damn business
So wait a minute, Maximea moved from Inspector to ACP? That means he jumped the ranks of Assistant Supt and Superintendent which are critical preparation ranks to the current ACP position? No wonder Lawlaw pwen couweee
Boy only in Dca those madness does happen. This means that all the ASPs and Superintendents were bypassed?

I thought I was the only one who realized that the Garbadine Gang in the CDPF were non entities.
. Well, all I know is Supt. Taytay-lay must be working overtime to crook him
. Boy look children maylay!
No wonder why Sen. Hon. Poopoo-you had no idea RSS was in the country. Skerro does not even trust him thats why he did not know but they trying to play it off talking about element of surprise. Boy Dca is really a whole planet.
Good job CDPF! Ka alé ba yo, yo sé pé èvè kapon!
Too many illegal guns and ammunition are in the hands of criminals. Yes, the public should support efforts by law enforcement to rid the country of these instructions of death. This can only redound to the benefit of the country.
However, I must emphasize, for long lasting gains against criminality, particularly gun crimes, ongoing training for the CDPF and a well thought out strategic la on crime, MUST be effectuated.
Good to hear.
You are appealing to everyone to help, but to get the requisite help, the police must act professionally. The CDPF definitely does not. Its not in my view a profession force. You dont, because of dirty politics, try to alienate and intimidate a section of the population, and then call on everyone to help. It cant work so. Could be that a very large percentage of you all need to be retrained, to understand the critical nexus which exists between the police and the public.
As i said good news though. Five less guns on our streets.
MEME
You mean 1 less gun on the street and 4 toys
