Preparations are well underway for ‘Flavors of the World Festival’ this weekend

The Windsor Park Stadium Forecourt is buzzing with final preparations just hours ahead of the first-ever Flavors of the World Festival in Dominica. This planned event is expected to give patrons a taste of a variety of cuisines from different countries.

Speaking on the preparations and his feelings ahead of the weekend, one of the organisers of Flavors of the World Festival, Simeon Joseph, told Dominica News Online (DNO) “preparations are going pretty well” for the event carded for Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 2 pm to 10 pm.

“We are about 95 percent set up in terms of infrastructure. Our VIP space, stage, vending booths, toilet facilities, access point, and more…in terms of preparations we are going full steam ahead for the event,” Joseph explained.

Joseph expressed “ This is going to be a very wonderful experience. We are speaking with our vendors, looking at menus, coordinating with performers, and everyone involved is on point and excited.”

“The weekend promises a fantastic mix of diverse delicious cuisine and entertainment for adults and children on the grounds of the Windsor Park Sports Stadium Forecourt We are anticipating a sellout event, so those wishing to purchase tickets are encouraged to do so as soon as possible,” he added.

“We will have Chinese, Indian, Lebanese, Haitian, African, Spanish cuisine, along with foods from our Kalinago people, Creole foods, and more. The festival will also highlight Dominican culture with Kalinago dancers, Jing Ping dancers, Calypso, and Bouyon acts as well as performances expected from Africa, India, Venezuela, Haiti, and Martinique,” Joseph noted.

Some entertainers who will be featured at the Flavors of the World Festival include Tasha P, Derrick Ra Peters, Carlyn XP, King Dice, Ralph Conde, Extasy Band, Michelle Henderson, Triple Kay and music and dance from the Indian Institute of Trinidad. There will also be performances from a Venezuelan jazz band among other acts.

Tickets can be purchased at Bulls Eye Pharmacy, Depex Colour Lab, Nex Connex, and all the catholic parish offices. Ticket costs: VIP Dining $250, $100 for adults with a food taster, children five to twelve $20, and children under five will enter for free.

Funds raised from Flavors of the World Festival will be donated towards the completion of the historic building, Our Lady of Fair Haven Cathedral in Roseau.
