The Office of the President has announced that Her Excellency Sylvanie Burton, DAH., President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, will be the recipient of the Global Inspirational Leadership Award and will be inducted into the Global Power Women Network.
Scheduled for Thursday, September 25, 2025, in New York City during the upcoming Global Power Women’s Conference, this honor acknowledges President Burton’s “outstanding leadership, unwavering commitment to advancing gender equality and visionary role in shaping policies which empower communities and inspire global progress”, according to an official government press release.
It said that the award will highlight her innovative approach to developing policies that empower communities and support international progress. The statement also expressed that her efforts to redefine leadership and promote inclusive prosperity resonate with the conference’s theme: “The Power Shift: Women Reimagining Leadership, Legacy and Global Prosperity.”
‘In receiving this Award, President Burton joins a distinguished circle of leaders who exemplify courage, resilience and transformative influence on the world stage. Her recognition is a testament to her personal achievements and the broader movement towards more inclusive and visionary leadership worldwide,” said the government statement.
The award presentation and her induction into the network will take place immediately following her keynote speech at the conference, in the presence of global leaders, innovators, and trailblazers
The annual Global Power Women’s Conference is an international event based in New York that aims to elevate women’s voices in leadership roles, encourage cross-sector collaboration, and develop strategies for sustainable global growth.
The website states that the initiative was “founded by the Centre for Economic and Leadership Development (CELD) UK, and Amazons Watch Magazine (AWM) as one of the outcomes of the Global Power Women Conference 2023 held at the New York Hilton Midtown on September 21, 2023.”
