Her Excellency Sylvanie Burton D.A.H, President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, is scheduled to participate in the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York this week, joining world leaders in discussions.
The session is themed “Better Together: 80 years and more for Peace, Development and Human Rights.”
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said that President Burton is expected to deliver her speech to the General Assembly on Thursday, September 25, 2025. Her address will highlight pressing global issues facing the international community, such as poverty, inequality, peace and justice, climate change and resilience, as well as the decline of multilateral cooperation.
She will also emphasize the impacts of underdevelopment, conflicts, wars, along with economic sanctions and trade restrictions, which disproportionately affect Small Island Developing States like Dominica.
Leading Dominica’s delegation to the Assembly, President Burton is accompanied by her spouse, First Gentleman Mr. Gilbert Burton; the Honourable Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dr. Vince Henderson; Dominica’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, His Excellency Philbert Aaron; Deputy Permanent Representative, His Excellency Kelvar Darroux; and Consul Mr. Sheldon Anthony Peter.
“Through her participation at the United Nations General Assembly, President Burton will reaffirm Dominica’s commitment to advancing dialogue, strengthening global cooperation and ensuring that the voices and concerns of small island nations are heard on the world stage”, said the OPM.
In her absence, Her Excellency Josette Matthew will fulfill the responsibilities of Acting President of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
The leader of the regime said “The other thing I think we need to look at, we have the Palestinians, I believe that we will be opened to engage the Government of Qatar, the Government of Saudi Arabia and the government of UAE [United Arab Emirates] with a view to quite possibly allowing the resettlement of a couple hundreds of Palestinians into Dominica if we can get funding from these governments, all he was thinking of was the funding because when it came to voting to have the Palestine people have their own state, Dominica abstained from voting at the last UN general assembly meeting, which ever representative that was .So many past employees and friends still on the Governments pay list I don’t know who our representative to the UN is any more. we lack direction , we lack true leadership on every level .Not one comment about injustice in her own country but she has a well written speech heading to the united nations .This is what represents us
The lady is no more than a stooge. She has no view of her own. She just read verbatim from a script that is handed to her.
Roosevelt likes the dunce and obedient ones. She is an intellectual featherweight. Listen to her speak off the cuff. without that prepared script she is inarticulate. Waste of public funds on this appointment. In terms of intelligence, it’s chalk and cheese between this in eloquent poppet and Mrs. Anette Sanford.
Go ask the rattlesnake if he recognise the state of Palestine.I know MEME support a Palestian state and so do I.
Skerrit is going to be on your case for a very very long time, untill your red blood corpuscles are no more.
Just asking, doesn’t the office of the President have a PR Department? Why does this information have to come from the Prime Minister’s Office?
It’s all for reasons like this one a Kalinago female president was selected. Use and abuse of the Kalinago to the highest level. Mafia Boss is feeling the heat under his feet and around him so much so he is unable to show his face. Poor Kalinagos have their sister representing Skerrit but unable to represent her own people on serious matters of concern to the Kalinago nation. The love of money can’t and will never buy happiness. I wish her n the team well in saving face for Dominica as Skerrit himself can’t confront the reality he has created n found himself.
All this lady does is to read scripts and give speech carefully prepared for her. She brings nothing substantive to the table but her designer outfits. The goodly lady does not have the gravitas to be president of anything. She is just a n instrument used by the Liar In Chief (Roosevelt).
Will she recognise the state of Palestine?
Dominica refrain from voting on this very issue in the UN very recently. Shameful and foolish! We all see the genocide happening in Gaza but yet Dominica is one of the few countries that sustains on Eve a symbolic vote to stop the mass killings of a people.
This very wicked, godawful man does a con job of conveniently invoking God’s name in his speeches to fool the gullible tat he is a god-fearing person.
The United Nations should be disbanded, it’s headquarters removed from the United States and nations with VETO power reviewed.
As the world moves very rapidly into what we call a Multi Polar World, i hope this American tool call the UN,will be met with a similar organisation by the BRICS countries, with China, Russia, India, Brazil, South Africa and all the others, leaving the UN. Hope they quickly dump the US$$$$ as planned, since it is used as an instrument of war. This will accelerate Americas fall at breakneck speed.
This delegation from Dominica is a big joke.😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄Not even Marie Galante or the other islands in the Windward Islands listens to what Dominica has to say.
They will eat like gluttons, put food in their pockets to eat in their room all night, get drund from expensive wine, grin like buffoons, belch, poom, live in luxury, get the per diem, and that’s it.
In CARICOM, only Mia is listened to on a global stage.
MEME
As long as those five countries namely Russia, China, United States, United Kingdom and France have the power to veto any resolution, the United Nations will remain infficacious, dysfunctional and just a white elephant.
If the UN functioned well, Israel would have long been declared ‘persona non grata’. Presentlt, the United States and the Zionist State are directly responsible for many of the conflicts and tensions in the world.
