    Who has obstructed electoral Reform?

The OAS report has confirmed that new legislation is required for the issuing of ID cards.

    1. The legislation for that was blocked by Concerned citizen movements CCM even after Lennox Linton indicated publicly that he was OK with the Bill.

    2. In order to facilitate having he cards for the election the government asked the CCM for an early hearing of the injunction in 20118 so this matter could be resolved in time . They refused.

3.Seem to me that churches and other civil society has intervened in a positive manner in the last couple weeks that is great . However I think they to go further and specifically call out the parties who have obstructed the reform process to date.

..”as he (Skerrit) has always done in his public utterances…” so telling his supporters to burn opponents with hot water and call them traitors in public was a call to his supporters “to seek peace and to abide with the law”?

Savarin should demand a public apology from Skerrit to the people of Dominica before writing this crap.

A you for real the blind leading the blind we don’t want to hear from either one and if they do we want accept what they have to say it’s a lie and we all know birds of a feather flock together so both od them should and must step down of their position.

The meeting was a complete waste of time.Considering the public statements of The PRIME MINISTER over the past years how he could even place his signature on such a document is beyond belief.A man with no moral compass .

This sounds a lot like those in authority or vying to be, are going to claim no responsibility for the disobedient conducts of those who have already been heated up–manly the followers of the opposing political party, who may not even understand the reason they are imposing that kind of unrest on the peace-loving people of Dominica .

It was said at the first meeting with the President through Isaac Baptiste: “Based on our (UWP) assessment of the situation on Dominica if there is no electoral reform, there could be a lot of problems in this country. The protests will continue because the people are in an angry mood”

So what has changed the so-called people’s mood within a few days?

I will never forget what happened on February 07, 2017, and the next day it that same Baptist, on the news media, claiming peaceful party –so they took no responsibility for the uncalled-for bad conducts of the night before. The same thing can be repeated–take heed

Am asking myself y is this elderly man sitting in a so called white house wasting taxpayer money. I don’t see the need for little Dominica having a president.

    • November 29, 2019

Well, before the President, there used to be a “Governor”, such as Governor Cools Lartigue, when I was in Dominica. I left it that way.

I didn’t even know that we had changed from Governor to President; I learned it from a Canadian friend, sometime in 2006–O dear

The 1979 saga in Dominica have been ethed in my mind growing up as a teenager and all through my lifetime what democracy means to a people who felt that they were wronged and that actions were needed to right the wrongs at the time. Here again there is a similar situation where the majority of the people feel that their rights for electoral reform and a free and fair election process have been hijacked by the electoral commission in collaboration with the government of the day. Whilst there is presently a pressing and demanding loud call for electoral reform such as cleansing the elector’s list and issuing or allowing I.d. cards to be used in this upcoming election on December 6 2019 in the year of our Lord unlike the past two elections we are saying in all certain terms that we will not vote and we will not allow anyone to vote come december 6

    • November 29, 2019

“Here again there is a similar situation where the majority of the people feel that their rights for electoral reform and a free and fair election process have been hijacked”

Did you say the majority? So why is it the UWP followers who are out there causing “civil unrest”? More than half of them may be so foolish they would not even know or understand what they are protesting for.

      November 30, 2019

What you are saying does not make any sense if it’s the majority of people how wants electoral reform then it will show at the polls and the majority will win the election wether it is UWP orDLP the majority will win bass on what you are saying

      Insomnia:

Stop playing brain dead. The OAS report has confirmed that new legislation is required for the issuing of ID cards.

3.So Insomnia when you are venting anger and rage use intelligence not idiocy to do so at the appropriate parties, otherwise you will look foolish and suspect.

So basically nothing was achieved. A signing of a piece of paper which will be ignored. This Code of conduct was drafted in 2009. Have you all ever seen Reginald Austrie adhere to it? For the amount of maypuis Moselle Williams got in 2014. So what was achieved. Nothing! A complete waste of 2 hours and we are still no closer to electoral reform. Voter list still hasn’t been cleansed, no I.D to vote.

we know who threatening who too

We know Lennox Linton is known for going against his word so let’s see if he will continue his campaign in a “peaceful” manner like he indicated to the President.

The statement refers to the 2009 General Election!

ADMIN: It refers to the code of conduct first being signed in 2009 and is the same code of conduct signed by the parties ever since.
