Primary and secondary schools gear up for 2025 Spelling Bee Finals

 

The Dominica Association of Teachers in collaboration with Macmillan Education Caribbean and Jays Limited will be presenting the 2025 Spelling Bee Finals for primary and secondary schools on the island this month.

According to information from Public Relations Officer of the DAT, Juanita Carbon, the competitions will be held for two days.

“Monday 12th May we will see 12 secondary schools doing battle, while on Tuesday 13th May, the primary schools,” she said.

The competing schools include, the Christian Union Primary, LightHouse Christian Academy, Paix Bouche Primary, Roosevelt Douglas Primary, St Martin Primary,  and St Mary’s Primary among others will compete for the top spot.

According to Carbon, also forming part of the primary schools’ competition will be the Champ of Champs contest.

“Nine students will compete among themselves, each one hoping to emerge as the top speller,” she revealed. “And these nine students will come from the Lighthouse Christian Academy, Christian Union Primary School, St Mary’s Primary, Roosevelt Douglas Primary, St Martin Primary, and Roseau Primary School.”

She added that the DAT will continue to organize activities that will help students improve their performance in literacy.
