Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit will cut short his stay in Canada and return to Dominica on Thursday, October 19 as Tropical Storm Tammy approaches the Lesser Antilles.
Prime Minister Skerrit, who is the current CARICOM Chairman, travelled to Ottawa, Canada on Monday, October 16 to co-chair the first Canada-CARICOM Summit alongside Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
A tropical storm watch was issued for Dominica at 5pm on Wednesday, October 18, which means tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area, generally within 48 hours.
The Meteorological Office has advised residents that wind speeds gusting to tropical storm force winds could begin to affect the island by Friday, October 20, with an increase in showers and thunderstorm activity, which could result in widespread flooding from up 2 to 4 inches of rainfall.
Possible impacts could include overflowing of waterways, landslides and rock falls from overhanging cliffs.
Residents are advised to continue to monitor the progress of Tropical Storm Tammy and finalize their preparedness plans.

Why do I believe this? His position at the top of the government of Dominica has only being both ruinous and perilous. Many years after Erika and Maria (weather systems) residents are still living under tarpaulin roofs and in dry weather houses. Despite being tens of millions of dollars in grants, gifts, debt forgiveness and special concessions, the country is in a deplorable state and the people have been reduced to beggary. Let me remind him that he, NG Lap Seng and others were in Macau doing what Skerrit is best known for, and two weeks later NG lap Seng, John Ashe and others in the gang were arrested and charged in the US and the only reason Skerrit was speared is because he was head of state. Skerrrit back in 2015 knew we were in hurricane season and knew Erika was approaching Dominica but he didn’t cut his trip short and was blocked had it not been for helicopter.
