Cricket West Indies (CWI) has extended its congratulations to Quentin Sampson, who has been recognized as the Breakout Player of the 2025 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
This accolade, said a CWI statement, is warranted by his impressive debut campaign with the Guyana Amazon Warriors. Alongside Sampson’s achievement, standout performances from other young talents included Ackeem Auguste’s notable innings of 73 runs for the St. Lucia Kings against the Amazon Warriors, and spinner Navin Bidaisee’s impressive bowling display, claiming 7 wickets for the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots at an economy rate of 8.04.
The tournament also showcased emerging talents such as Jediah Blades, Nathan Edward, and Karima Gore, who are making significant strides in regional cricket development.
CWI reported that Sampson distinguished himself through his consistent performances and crucial contributions on the field. Over eight matches, he amassed 241 runs with an average of 40.16 and maintained a strike rate of 153. It also added that his highest score of 76 was instrumental in guiding his team to victory, exemplifying his ability to perform under pressure and demonstrating both skill and composure at this level of competition.
Many other young cricketers made their mark during the tournament, which ran from August 14 to September 21. Their opportunities were partly a result of their impressive displays earlier this year in the CWI Breakout League, which helped earn them their place in the CPL.
“Quentin’s performances, as well as those of others this season, are both pleasing and encouraging for West Indies cricket,” stated Miles Bascombe, CWI Director of Cricket. “They have shown that our emerging players can step up and deliver when they are given the opportunity.”
