Red Cross donates supplies to hard-hit Pottersville/Baytown residents

Hurricane Beryl Relief Distribution

Following a rapid Damage and Needs Assessment (DANA), the Dominica Red Cross Society distributed relief supplies to residents of the Baytown/Pottersville area who have been impacted by Hurricane Beryl earlier today.

Several residents have been forced to relocate from the area. A minority of these displaced people are taking up residence with their relatives or in official government locations, while others are in need of shelter.

“Hurricane Beryl has caused significant damage and hardship for many of our residents, and our priority is to ensure that those in need receive the necessary support during this challenging time. The relief supplies included Kitchen sets, Mattresses, Shelter Toolkits, Stoves, Cleaning & Hygiene Kits, Mosquito nets and Blankets, which are essential for
addressing immediate needs and providing comfort to those affected by the hurricane. We are working in close collaboration with local authorities and community organizations to ensure a swift and efficient distribution process. Our volunteers and staff members are committed to reaching every affected household and [offering] assistance [based] on needs of those affected.

As we continue our relief efforts, we encourage residents who have been impacted by Hurricane Beryl to reach out to the Dominica Red Cross Society for support. The Dominica Red Cross Society reminds the public that we are in the hurricane season; residents are encouraged to pay attention to the warnings and information being provided by the Office of Disaster Management,” said a statement released by the organization.
