Regional Lions Club chapters aid communities affected by Beryl

Lions in Grenada

Various Lions Clubs across the Caribbean region have come together to support the islands affected by Hurricane Beryl. They have been providing much-needed aid to communities in St. Vincent, Grenada, and Jamaica. Lions members are actively on the ground, assessing the needs of the disaster areas and offering immediate assistance. District Governor 60B, Alan Alexander, has highlighted the tireless efforts of Lions and Leos in delivering critical supplies and support to those in need, making a significant impact on the affected residents’ lives.

The Lions District has initiated a social media campaign to raise awareness and drive donations for the affected communities. Collaborating with local agencies, the clubs are coordinating the dispatch of supplies to severely affected areas. DG Alexander emphasized the global outreach efforts to encourage generous contributions for relief operations, engaging sister clubs in District 60A and international Lions clubs for additional support.

“We are utilizing all our platforms to reach out to a global audience, encouraging generous contributions to support our relief operations. We have successfully engaged our sister clubs in District 60A and international Lions clubs for additional support. This collaborative effort is ensuring a steady flow of resources and expertise, enhancing our capacity to respond effectively to the disaster,” stated Alexander.

In Jamaica, 18 care packages were distributed in Race Course District, Palmers Cross Clarendon, with more packages destined for youth and families in other districts. Despite challenges like flooded areas, potholes, fallen trees, and damaged infrastructure, Lions persisted in providing assistance to those in need. The financial support and donations of essential items received have been greatly appreciated, and DG Alexander encourages other clubs and stakeholders to join in supporting the cause.

Together, the collaborative efforts are making a positive impact on the affected communities, aiding in their recovery and rebuilding process.
