Regional Schools Investment Competition: local school moves to next round

Dominica’s Arthur Waldron SDA Academy ‘Market Masters’ has won the  Intra-Country Regional Schools Investment Competition and is among seven schools set to advance to the next leg, competing against eight other (regional) schools.  The initiative is designed to engage and motivate young individuals to delve into the world of investing. This collaborative project involves the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange (ECSE), the Eastern Caribbean Securities Regulatory Commission, and licensed broker-dealers affiliated with the ECSE. The primary goal, according to organizers, is to cultivate a new generation of investors who will actively participate in the financial markets.

Kicking off on September 26, the competition began with an Investment Education Webinar, providing students with a unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience in securities market activities. Participants are encouraged to apply their knowledge while acquiring valuable insights and skills related to investing.

Targeted at high school students and first-year college attendees, the Regional Schools Investment Competition serves as an interactive educational platform that introduces participants to the investment landscape through the ECSE.

The winners of the Intra-Country segment of the competition, which ran from October 21 to November 1, 2024, are as follows:

1. Antigua and Barbuda: Irene B Williams Secondary School, Green Magnates Ent.
2. Dominica: Arthur Waldron SDA Academy, Market Masters
3. Grenada: Grenada Boys Secondary School, Boys on the Hill Investment
4. Saint Lucia: Choiseul Secondary School, CHSS Emerging Investors
5. St. Kitts and Nevis: Saddlers Secondary School, Innovative Traders
6. St. Vincent and the Grenadines: Adelphi Secondary, Adelphi Enterprise

Additionally, the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School’s Rainbow City Investors from Anguilla and Montserrat Secondary School’s Alliougana Hub will also participate in the upcoming phase of the competition.

The title of Regional Champion is up for grabs in this final round, scheduled to take place from November 11 to November 20.
