Republic Bank EC Limited has donated $50,000 towards the staging of the 25th Edition of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF).
The donation was made during the weekly WCMF press conference held on Thursday.
The event is scheduled to take place from October 24 to 26, 2025, at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.
“It is indeed an honor to stand here today on behalf of Republic Bank EC Limited, as we join hands with the Discover Dominica Authority and Festivals Commission on the most anticipated event on our national calendar,” Assistant Manager of the Processing Unit at Republic Bank EC Ltd Nicole Karam said while addressing the ceremony. “ Year after year, this festival grows not just in size but in meaning. It brings together the region’s music, our culture, and our people in a way that is truly unique.”
She continued, “It reminds us of something important, that our culture is not just something to celebrate, but something to protect, nurture and grow.”
According to Karam, the Republic Bank is honored to walk alongside the World Creole Music Festival, celebrating 25 in 2025, “supporting its twin goals of preserving our cultural heritage and promoting Dominica as a destination the world needs to experience.”
She emphasized that these goals align with the Power to Make a Difference Program, which is rooted in the belief that positive change begins with empowering people, supporting culture, and building resilient communities.
“When we invest in initiatives like this festival, we are not only celebrating who we are as a people, but we are also helping to shape who we become as a nation,” Karam noted. “This is one of the many ways the bank works to build not just strong communities, but a stronger Dominica.”
She went on to state that for Republic Bank, this partnership is more than just a sponsorship, “ It is about creating a musical legacy. It is about giving artists a platform. It is about showing the world the depth of talent that lives right here on our island and in the region. And it is definitely about making sure that generations to come can feel proud of Dominica’s culture as we do today.”
“We look forward to what this year’s festival will bring. The talent, the energy, the sense of unity that music and dance can create,” she said.
Meanwhile, Karam advises Republic Bank customers to keep their banking details safe during this festive season.
“They’re reminded to keep their banking details, cards, and online access very secure,” she advised. “Be mindful of any requests for your information via suspicious emails and links.”
Furthermore, she announced some of the key features at the bank.
“Our Republic on board is now live, and customers can now open accounts online at their convenience,” Karam revealed. “We have launched three new ATMs and the new locations are H.H.V Whitchurch, Roseau, Big W in Canefield, and at Jolly’s Pharmacy in Portsmouth.”
She said these machines are equipped with TAP features.
“Look for the blue-blinking light and tap your card for quicker access,” Karam revealed. “Left your wallet at home? Not a problem. Our cardless cash feature allows you to access money at our ATMs by just using your mobile app.”
She also advised the public to look out for the Republic ‘Make Your Christmas’ campaign that launches from October 15, 2025, “where we will have reduced rates on mortgages, land and personal loans, and car loans.”
This money should have been donated to a charitable cause. The WCMF is a financial lost cause, and the bank is us pouring good money down the abyss.
Why can’t these corporate citizens give such generous donations to more worthy causes? Some examples – youth development initiatives, a proper home for the elderly, a rehabilitation center for recovering drug addicts, etcetera.
The powers that be spending over $13 000 000, corporations and businesses donating many $thousands, it clearly shows that seek is the top priority in Dominica. This is very perplexing!
