Demonstrating a focus on community involvement, the staff at Sagicor, a regional insurance firm, have united with the Kalinago Child Support Foundation to contribute to the yearly back-to-school backpack program designed to assist disadvantaged children by providing them with necessary educational materials.
This initiative aims to ensure that children from low-income households begin the school year prepared with fully stocked backpacks. Amanda Theodore-Langlais, the Founder and Executive Director of the Kalinago Child Support Foundation Inc., expressed gratitude for the kindness of the Sagicor team in supporting the program conceptualized by her organization. She noted that many children will now have access to the resources they need to thrive academically.
Cheryl Rolle, the General Manager and Principal Representative for Sagicor in Dominica, stated, “We believe in the power of education and the importance of giving back to the community,” adding,“Our employees are passionate about
making a positive impact, and this initiative is a perfect example of how we can come together to support children and families in need.”
The backpacks were generously filled with essential items, including notebooks, pencils, crayons, and additional classroom supplies such as books, writing pads, filler paper, and pens. Ms. Theodore-Langlais, who visited Sagicor’s offices on Monday, September 9, along with Assistant PRO Annell Eustache to accept the donation, remarked,“The Kalinago Child Support Foundation is delighted to receive these supplies which will go along way to helping the children do well in school, this academic year. We’re grateful to Sagicor, particularly for the support of their generous team members.”
