Second loss for Dominica in Concacaf series

In a recent match held in St. Kitts as part of the ongoing Concacaf Series, Dominica’s senior men’s national football team faced a tough challenge against Sint Maarten. The game saw Travist Joseph shine brightly, netting two goals and earning a brace, but defensive lapses ultimately cost Dominica the match, reported the Dominica Football Association in a press release.

The release said that Dominica began the contest with energy and determination, establishing an early presence on the field. However, against the flow of play, Sint Maarten managed to open the scoring, catching the Dominican team off guard. Despite this setback, the hosts responded vigorously, pushing forward and equalizing just before halftime through a well-placed finish by Travist Joseph, who capitalized on a promising run from Troy Jules.

As per the CFA report, going into the break, the score was level at 1-1, setting the stage for an exciting second half. The Dominican squad came out strongly, pressing for a lead, but once again, Sint Maarten struck against the run of play, scoring their second goal to take a 2-1 advantage. Not to be outdone, Joseph once more proved his offensive prowess, heading in his second goal of the match to bring the score to 2-2.

Unfortunately, the resilient effort was marred by defensive errors. Similar to their previous encounter with Sint Maarten, Dominica conceded a penalty following a costly mistake at the back. Sint Maarten converted from the spot, securing their third goal and ultimately clinching a 3-2 victory over Dominica.

This defeat marked Dominica’s second consecutive loss in the tournament. Looking ahead, the Concacaf Series is set to resume in March 2026, with upcoming fixtures featuring matches against St. Kitts and Belize.
