White potato farmers across Dominica can now purchase white potato seeds for the white potato planting season. This was announced by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy.
Technical Officer in the Division of Agriculture Keian Stephenson said “farmers have long been awaiting…the start of the season.”
He added, farmers who are interested in growing white potatoes should contact their extension officers. “Also potato farmers should begin preparing farmlands, or they should have already begun preparation of the farmlands for the white potato planting season.”
Stephenson explained that the white potato seeds are sold at a cost of $50 a bag or $100 for three bags. Potato farmers should collect their slips and pay at the Dominica Export Import Agency (DEXIA) cashier in Roseau. Thereafter, collect the seeds at the DEXIA Multi-Purpose Pack House on Goodwill Road from 8 AM to 1 PM, from Monday to Friday.
He also extends to all the white potato farmers a wonderful white potato planting season to reduce our import bill, grow what we eat, and eat what we grow.
When you see the trucks “full to the roofs” with onions and garlic going to your stores for every kitchen including twa-wosh outside fire – you’d want to plant and GROW GARLIC and ONIONS now that you’ve done the right thing to grow white potatoes. A no-brainer! you don’t even need brains to do that.
I say give those lazy do nothing gossiping UWP seeds,so they can get of their lazy B and go plant potatoes
