Seven young ladies from various communities across Dominica will compete for the prestigious title of Miss Wob Dwiyet 2025.
The pageant is scheduled to take place at the Old Mill Cultural Centre on October 29.
The contestants are Niah Massicot representing Paix Bouche, Daidra Smith representing Sibouli Massacre, Ashantè Paul representing Jimmit, Kinajè Felix representing Giraudel/Eggleston, Myanka Elizee representing Grand Bay, Debbie Daway representing Newtown, and Zebadijah Maxwell representing Tarreau.
Minister for Culture Gretta Roberts, who was addressing the official launching and sashing ceremony held at the Old Mill Cultural Centre on August 15, said the pageant will allow the contestants to embrace and showcase Dominica’s unique culture.
“Our young ladies this evening should all feel proud, not only to be representatives of Dominican beauty, but also as ambassadors of our tradition and heritage,” she said. “Whilst they are looking forward to winning this coveted title, this pageant is all about embracing and showcasing our unique culture.”
According to her, each contestant brings their own light, talent, and cultural expression to the stage.
“Their passion, dedication, and grace already makes them winners,” Roberts stated.
She continued, “So all I ask is that they all embrace this as an opportunity to represent their communities and their country proudly.”
Roberts added, “Let this also be a platform to educate and inspire future participants, like themselves, young ladies in promoting and preserving the very essence of who we are as Dominicans.”
The reigning Miss Wob Dwiyet is Heidi Ellick of Grand Bay.
