Seventh place finish in Girls’ U-20 Discus wraps up Dominica’s CARIFTA Games campaign

Dominica concluded its participation in the 2025 CARIFTA Games today, facing yet another tough outcome in the Girls’ Under-20 Discus Throw. Young athlete Godisha Joseph represented the Nature Isle, competing against a highly skilled lineup. She recorded an impressive throw of 35.36 metres, which secured her a 7th place finish in the event.

The Dominica Athletics Association (DAA) expressed its appreciation to all athletes, coaches, and supporters who played a role in this year’s CARIFTA campaign.

“The focus now shifts to continued training and development in preparation for upcoming regional and international competitions”, said a statement from the organization.

A summary of Dominica’s performance at the CARIFTA 2025 Games includes:

Gold Medal: Addison James distinguished himself in the Boys’ Under-20 Javelin, delivering an impressive throw of 67.48 metres and earning Dominica’s only gold medal of the Games.

Relay Record: The mixed relay team from Dominica set a new national benchmark in the 4x400m event, finishing with a time of 3:52.01 and placing 7th overall.

Sprints: Sprint star Kerelle Etienne recorded a time of 11.76 seconds in the Girls’ Under-20 100m semi-finals, finishing 3rd in her heat but narrowly missing a spot in the final.

Jumps: Jeriah Lewis achieved a personal best with a jump of 7.06 metres in the Boys’ Under-20 Long Jump, ending in 5th place overall. Jaden Joseph also made an impression in the Boys’ U-17 Long Jump with a mark of 6.04 metres.

    Demand quality sporting facilities. Your government fritters money away and truncate your dreams and aspirations in the sporting arena.
