  1. Dominicanness vs Americanness

To change this a co-operative society is required, based on the equality and respect of human dignity, sharing of the resources which are produced by our efforts, and work by everyone and exploitation by none. We need to make the education provided in all our schools much more Dominican in content. No longer do our children simply learn British and European history. They need to learn the history of Africa and pre-Columbian Americas (full of communalist examples) placing special emphasis on the terrible period of slavery and the heroic struggles for freedom of Maroons and Kalinagos. Kwéyòl as national language needs and deserve a relevant place in curricula. This will teach our youth to live and work together for the common good and prepare them to play a dynamic and constructive part in the development of Dominica!

What is the educational system in Dominica intended to do, what is its purpose? What kind of Society are we trying to build? Our education must inculcate a sense of commitment to the total community in which all members share in the good or bad fortune of the group and in which progress is measured in terms of human well-being not prestige buildings or cars.

The problem lies in the origins of our educational system introduced by the colonialists modelled on the British system and inevitably based on the assumptions of a racist and capitalist society, popularized today by Yankee imperialism, emphasizing and encouraging the individualistic instincts instead of the co-operative instincts, inducing attitudes of human inequality, and in practice underpinning the domination of the weak by the strong, specially in the economic field.

      I hear you bro.
But, at the end of the day its a private newspaper and they dictate what they publish regardless of what you and I think. I love DNO and remain thankful everyday they allow me to vent    and straighten out Labor Power (LP) but, the excuse they give sometimes make me go

      So calm down….Long live DNO.
