Sixty police recruits begin six-month training to become officers

Acting Police Chief Davidson Valerie

Sixty police recruits recently began their six-month training to become members of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force. This is according to Acting Police Chief Davidson Valerie.

“Forty-four male and 15 female officers were enlisted into the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force on Friday 6 December 2024,” he said. “The 59 new entrants took their oath of office at police headquarters following which they were transported to the training site at Jimmit where the training will be conducted over a period of six months.”

Furthermore, Valerie said one additional officer is expected to join the cohort within the next two days.

“I wish the officers well and a successful six months training,” he stated.

In September 2024, Minister for National Security Rayburn Blackmoore said regarding training for new recruits,  the government is also ensuring training in effective report writing and protection of the crime scenes,  that the evidence collected is not compromised and all the fundamentals that may affect a case can be dealt with.

“We have talent within our local space,” he noted. “We have a former retired police superintendent, so he is going to assist in having lectures starting next month, so we can have those courses to train as many police officers as possible in the area of report writing and collecting evidence.”

In April 2022, 51 young men and women from across Dominica— 38 males and 13 females joined the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF). This was said to be the largest induction the police service had seen at any one time.

If I may ask….what are the entry reqiurements to be a police man or woman in Dominica? What do they learn? 6 months is nor a long time to learn about the laws of the country, traffic rules, first aid and much more.

Where I live it takes 2,5 years to complete the education.

What the police have to learn what is,and what is not an offence. The police does not know smoking marijuana in a public place is an offense. They do not know parking a motor vehicle less than 15 feet from any corner, and parking a motor vehicle on any sidewalk is an offence.Putting anything on the road not authorized by the police in order to secure a parking space is an offence.Every day those offences are being committed in Roseau in the presence of the police and nothing is being done.Since UWP daycallay the police force and installed their PUPPET chief and deputy chief, the police have become useless a holes.

The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force can appropriately be described as legalised armed thugs in police uniforms.

The main responsibility of the police is to enforce the laws of the land and protect the public. The Dominican police protect Roosevelt and his immediate family, but intimidate, harass, arrest, brutalize, and at times, kill unarmed civilians. These recruits are just reinforcement for the expected turmoil when all reasonable forms of electoral reform will be rejected by the despot.

Expect anything from Roosevelt for he is an unrepentant sinner.

By the way, what has become of the case with the murder of Kerwin Prosper? Has it been shelved or buried under tons of pages of bureaucracy.
