Soufriere constituency MP pledges bigger and better reunion next time

Denise Charles-Pemberton

Parliamentary Representative of the Soufriere Constituency, Denise Charles-Pemberton, has promised a bigger and better reunion for that constituency at its next celebration.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Scottshead/Soufriere/Gallion Reunion 2025, Charles-Pemberton emphasized the importance of expanding future events to include the entire St. Mark community. She noted that some residents of Soufriere and Gallion had felt excluded from this year’s festivities.

“Next time, let us do it for the entire St Mark—Soufriere, Gallion, and Scottshead—because the people in Soufriere and Gallion felt a little left out and we don’t want anybody to feel left out,” she said.

Charles-Pemberton announced plans to increase community involvement in the next reunion, aiming to draw hundreds of returning participants to foster connection and development in the area.

“We want it to be bigger, we want it to be better… So we will have hundreds of people returning back, to give back, to socialize, reconnect and continue the development of this beautiful village,” she stated.

She also encouraged members of the constituency to recognize one another’s contributions, stressing the importance of unity and mutual support.

“If we do not honor each other, if we don’t exalt each other, if we do not celebrate the best of each other and bring each other up, then it will turn into nothing—because it takes people to build a village.”

In closing, Charles-Pemberton thanked the reunion committee and reinforced her vision for the next celebration, scheduled two years from now.

“Let us continue to work together as one community… Good work reunion committee—and the next two years, as I said, we will be bigger and better.”

Activities for the Scotts Head Reunion, held between June 27 and July 6, included among other others, a History Night, a Belle Marche, a beach clean-up, an awards ceremony and the opening of a bus stop work on which was completed during the celebrations.

Tell Denise résidents feeling left off how did that happen. You are having a reunion for a community and some living in the community are left out or feels left out. Who are they? people who did not vote for you? a community how big is this community. so people could reach their people in the community. During that period I could not reach my family for all that time. I was not aware this is what was going on.
