St Eustatius or “Statia”, a lesser-known destination within the Caribbean Netherlands, is making significant strides toward establishing itself as a leading sustainable tourism hotspot. According to a recent press release from the St. Eustatius Tourism Development Foundation (STDF), its involvement in a cutting-edge digital marketing campaign aims to present the island to millions of potential visitors across the globe.

Reportedly, the STDF has successfully gained inclusion in the highly anticipated Caribbean 365 initiative. The program is described as offering a comprehensive, year-round promotional calendar featuring Caribbean destinations through a curated 365-day schedule and an integrated booking platform. The Caribbean Travel & Tours portal, recognized as the region’s first all-in-one booking system, simplifies travel planning by combining flights, accommodations, and authentic local experiences—perfect for travelers seeking unique Caribbean adventures.

To kick off this international collaboration, the STDF organized a two-day familiarisation (FAM) trip for the Caribbean Travel & Tours production team in February 2026. This marked the foundation’s first global media visit of the year and represented a major milestone in the island’s strategy to attract worldwide attention as a premier travel destination.

Highlights from the Statia FAM trip included several immersive activities. Among them, a historical Caribbean tour was led by Erieënne Brandao, the STDF’s Communication Specialist, who guided visitors through the island’s rich colonial past and vibrant Caribbean culture.

Additionally, an eco-tourism adventure featured a guided ascent of The Quill, a dormant volcano and protected nature reserve, with Anthony Reid of Global Nature Consultancy & Partners providing insights into the island’s unique biodiversity and ecological significance. This content was captured specifically for the Caribbean 365 project, emphasizing Statia’s dedication to eco-friendly tourism.

The Caribbean Travel & Tours platform has garnered recognition from esteemed travel publications such as Forbes, Travel Noire, and Travel Weekly.  As per the release, the platform’s extensive network of over 40,000 travel advisers worldwide actively promotes Caribbean destinations, positioning St. Eustatius to reach a broad audience of discerning travelers and tourism professionals.

Maya Pandt, the director of tourism at the STDF, noted the importance of this partnership, stating,”This strategic Caribbean tourism partnership comes at a pivotal moment as Statia prepares to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the First Salute in November 2026.”

She referred to the historic event on 16 November 1776, when St. Eustatius became the first foreign territory to recognize the American independence flag.

Pandt emphasized the significance of the upcoming milestone, highlighting its appeal: “It’s a historic milestone that offers powerful appeal for heritage travellers and cultural tourists, particularly from the United States market. The Caribbean 365 initiative ensures this compelling historical narrative reaches global audiences precisely when interest in American Revolutionary history and Caribbean heritage tourism will peak.”

The official launch date for the Caribbean 365 project will be announced soon.
