St Joseph man remanded on murder charges

Gibbs John male adult of St. Joseph, who was arrested and charged with the murder of  Obed Qball Nicholas of St. Joseph was remanded into custody at the Dominica State Prison.

He appeared before a Roseau Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Police sources told Dominica News Online (DNO) that due to the nature of the crime, he can only be bailed at the High Court.

According to previous police reports, Nicholas who appeared to have been beaten was found at his home in the early evening of  April 10, 2025.

Currently, reports are that two other male individuals are also in police custody in an active investigation of the matter.

Gibbs is being represented by Attorney Wayne Norde.

The matter was adjourned to August 12, 2025 at St Joseph for the preliminary inquiry.

    Sincere condolences to the entire family and close circle of friends of the deceased. It’s always inconsolable when a close family member loses his/her life in such an untimely and tragic manner.

    One thing I will like to see in Dominica is that murders cases brought to the court are swiftly dispatched. These Cass typically take on average five, six and seven years to resolved. Delayed justice is injustice.
