During his official State Visit to the Republic of Ghana, Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, recently formalized a new diplomatic framework by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Establishment of a Political Consultation Mechanism with the African country.
According to the St Kitts & Nevis Information Service, the signing ceremony took place on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, and involved Prime Minister Drew and Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
This agreement establishes a structured platform for ongoing dialogue between the two governments, facilitating regular consultations and broadening avenues for cooperation.
The SKNIS says that the newly formed mechanism aims to foster collaboration across a variety of sectors, including politics, trade, science, technology, and cultural exchanges. Its purpose is to promote policy alignment, strengthen diplomatic ties, and create continuous opportunities for both nations to work together at both the governmental and technical levels.
Expressing the importance of the accord, Prime Minister Drew noted, “This mechanism ensures that our engagement with Ghana is structured, strategic, and sustained,” said Prime Minister Drew. “It creates the platform for meaningful cooperation across multiple sectors that matter to our people.”
