State Department warns US visa holders

The State Department has issued a new warning to holders of US visas saying that they are continuously being screened and will be deported if they don’t follow US laws and rules concerning immigration.

The message was first posted on the the department’s social media pages and was shared by the US Embassy in Barbados which oversees the Eastern Caribbean, including Dominica.

“U.S. visa screening does not stop after a visa is issued,” the short message reads.

“We continuously check visa holders to ensure they follow all U.S. laws and immigration rules–and we will revoke their visas and deport them if they don’t.”

US embassies in Europe have also been posting warnings telling would-be visitors that engaging in behavior deemed harmful by the government could get deported.

A message by the embassy in Tallinn, Estonia, reads: “When you apply to enter the United States and you get a visa, you are a guest. Now, if you are in this country to promote Hamas, to promote terrorist organizations, to participate in vandalism, to participate in acts of rebellion and riots on campus, we never would have let you in if we had known that. You lied to us. You’re out.”

The embassy in Budapest has a quote from Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, saying, “We don’t want people in our country that are going to be committing crimes and undermining our national security or the public safety.”

Administration officials have described the warnings as reasonable.

“Follow the law, behave yourselves, be a good visitor and you’ll be fine,” State Department spokesperson, Tammy Bruce said on Monday this week. “It’s a visa. It’s not an entitlement. A visa and a green card are not birthrights. These are privileges you’re granted … because of what you present to the United States. Every sovereign nation in the world has an interest in controlling who comes in, knowing who’s coming into their country, what their intentions are.”

The warnings appear to be part of the Trump Administration’s long-promised immigration crackdown.

Since taking office, President Donald Trump has signed executive orders outlining a sweeping agenda, from declaring an invasion of the US and ending birthright citizenship.

Mass deportation was a signature of Trump’s 2024 campaign and many of his supporters are expecting results.

The Associated Press reports that while it is standard practice to scrutinize applicants for US visas, the language being used presently exemplifies the stance that the Trump Administration is taking in regard to who is allowed into the United States, and the behavior that the government sees as acceptable.

I tried and tried to warn many of my brothers and sisters about Don-Old-Trump, they turned a deaf ear and many excoriated me. How do you like it now? He has turned the world on its head.

Imagine this! He is deporting immigrants who are legally entitled to live and work in the U.S. Unsurprisingly, this devout racist , has made provision for the most racist people on planet earth, White South Africans, (all 5 000 000 of them) to take up permanent residence in America.

How myopic and unthinking some of you are!

UWP wanted the US to ban Dominican visa holders all together, especially the visas of Labour supporters. The Dominica government should ask the State Department to deport Zed Lloyd to Dominica to stand trial.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 2 Thumb down 26

This is perfectly fair. Dominica also expects visitors to the island to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner, and people who come to Dominica and cause trouble and disruptions can also expect themselves to be deported.

That’s why i am in conflict with the opposition. Skerrit is sending stones at them, and they are responding by sending sponge balls. Now is the time to make Trump (the authorities in the USA) know that Dominican citizens resident in the USA, St Thomas, etc, vote in USA elections and still leave the USA and come to Dominca to vote in selected constituencies. Trump being the person that he is, will act on that.
You all still have Delbert Paris as a member of the party? Dismiss the man! Dismiss him!
Labourites created a monster in Skerrit, why should UWP do the same?
By the way Dominicans, labourites are having nightly SECRET MEETING in many constituencies. My agent infiltrated one such secret meeting last night…Yes, down stairs in the building owned by the ex police.About 25 of you all were there. I know what was discussed, and will give the details of the discussion to the opposition before you read this.
Opposition you need care takers in all constituencies, you all dont.

Where has trump ended birthright citizenship? This cannot be done via an executive order. Do a bit of research before posting false statements please

      Reading is fundamental.

“President Donald Trump HAS SIGNED EXECUTIVE ORDERS outlining a sweeping agenda, from declaring an invasion of the US and ending birthright citizenship”

That’s a fact. The courts however have issued injunctions putting a stay on that executive order as regards to birthrights. Partly on the grounds that you have stated. The reality is the court process will most likely out live his presidency.

can you tell us where and when did Trump cancelled birth right citizenships? there are things that still needs the Supreme Court to vote on. He can’t do this on an executive order. wow we just post half stories. half a truth is a lie. his executive orders alone don’t work. he can’t just wake up and change the constitution. the Prisoners he sent to El Salvador should be ordered to return to the US to be processed. Trump is not God
