As we celebrate the 47th anniversary of our Nation’s independence, we reflect on the theme: “47 Years of Progress and Purpose.” This moment invites us to acknowledge the strides we have made as a Nation while also recognizing the challenges that lie ahead in our social, political, and cultural life.
Over the past 47 years, we have witnessed significant advancements in various sectors. Our education system has evolved, providing greater access to knowledge and opportunities for our youth. The healthcare sector has made remarkable progress, improving the quality of life for many. Economically, we have seen growth in tourism and agriculture, which have become vital pillars of our national development. These achievements are a testament to our resilience and the collective efforts of our people.
However, as we celebrate these accomplishments, we must also confront the areas that require our attention and improvement. We continue to grapple with issues such as unemployment and the need for greater inclusivity. Of great concern is the rise in violent crime. Nation building also requires that we foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and active civic engagement. We must strive to preserve our rich heritage while embracing the diversity that enriches our society.
In particular, the moral and ethical life of our nation faces constant challenges and must contend with AI and social media. We must find ways to ensure that these powerful technologies serve society responsibly and equitably.
The teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ remind us of the importance of love, compassion, and justice. We are called to uphold these values in our daily lives and to be witnesses of hope in a world that often seems divided. It is crucial that we nurture a generation that understands the significance of integrity, respect, and service to others.
As we look to the future, let us commit ourselves to fostering a society that prioritizes moral and ethical values. We must encourage our young people to be leaders who embody the principles of the Gospel, advocating for justice and peace in their communities. Let us invest in programs that promote ethical leadership, community service, and social responsibility.
In conclusion, as we celebrate our independence, let us remember that our progress is not merely measured by economic growth but by the strength of our moral fabric. May we work together to build a nation that fulfills the national principle of “all for each and each for all,” a nation that reflects the love and teachings of Christ, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.
Wishing everyone a blessed Celebration of our 47th Anniversary of Independence
In Christ’s love
Is this a Roman or a Roman catholic 🤔, not an African nothing?
What have these fellas become!
except for melanin, they(Romans) destroyed and took away all his Africanness, in exchange for the accepted defeat, a white god.
“As we celebrate the 47th anniversary of our Nation’s independence, we reflect on the theme: “47 Years of Progress and Purpose.” This moment invites us to acknowledge the strides we have made as a Nation while also recognizing the challenges that lie ahead in our social, political, and cultural life.”( Kendrick J. Forbes).
You know I have a problem with the comments of this guy Kendrick: It is upsetting to see him emphasize the word “we.” In the first place Kendrick you are not Dominica born, you are not a citizen by naturalization.
You are simple a just come to Dominica: perhaps a want to be Dominican; but before you can emphasize we, you need to wait seven years and apply for Dominica citizenship, and if it is granted then and only then you might be able to reference yourself as “we” in reference to anything in Dominica.
The term our nation: country considered as a body of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language, inhabiting a particular area or…
The statement goes beyond abstract values by calling for investment in programs that promote ethical leadership, community service, and social responsibility among young people.
This Bishop has witnessed the country drowning in moral decadence, with massive corruption in government, heartless neglect of the aged and homeless, wanton judicial abuses, and a great disparity in the standard of living between the majority poor and the 1% super rich public servants (government ministers and enablers), not a word of concern nor outrage.
This bishop and most other men of the cloth they take collection and tithes from the indigent, ignore the suffering of their flock, their mouths are filled with scriptures while their hearts are completely devoid of love and compassion.
The disgusting thing about his motives are is that it’s all hypocritical: That guy does not know half of anything about Dominica; the nation suffering: he’s a just come, talking crap about as “we celebrate our independence.” Who are the we and our; he is talking about?
Someone need to inform that guy, it is people like him who usually cause conflict between church and State: His responsibility, if he was called by God to preach; is to preach God word from the Bible to the people, and to dabble into politics, as he has done here!
And let me remind him that Roman Catholicism is the cause of this vast, and overwhelming poverty in Dominica; as such he is part of it; the modern day traitor, the only difference in him, to his predecessors, is that the contents of melanin in his epidermis is greater than those before him which came out of France, and Belgium!
He need to shut up, and keep out of politics!
