STATEMENT: DAIC on announced partial travel restrictions affecting Dominican passport holders

Roseau, Dominica — Friday, November 19, 2025

The Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC) has taken note of the recently announced partial travel restrictions affecting holders of Dominican passports, particularly as they relate to certain visa categories for travel to the United States.

As the principal representative body for the private sector, the DAIC recognizes that international mobility plays an important role in facilitating trade, investment, education, tourism, and professional engagement. Any development that may affect the ease of movement for Dominican citizens has the potential to carry implications for business
operations, investor confidence, and broader economic activity.

The DAIC acknowledges that the restrictions announced are partial in nature and do not constitute a general ban on travel. However, given the uncertainty such measures may create for businesses, investors, students, and families, we believe it is important that clear, timely, and accurate information be made available to the public and the business community.

We welcome the ongoing engagement between the Government of Dominica and the relevant authorities in the United States and encourage continued constructive dialogue aimed at addressing any concerns that may have led to this decision. The DAIC supports efforts that seek to preserve Dominica’s international standing, protect legitimate economic activity, and safeguard opportunities for Dominican enterprises and citizens abroad.

At this time, the DAIC urges members of the business community to remain calm, to seek verified information through official channels, and to assess their individual circumstances carefully where travel or commercial arrangements may be affected.

The Association also encourages continued transparency and communication so that businesses can plan effectively and mitigate any potential disruption. The DAIC stands ready to engage with policymakers and stakeholders, as appropriate, in support of solutions that promote confidence, stability, and sustainable economic growth.

The DAIC reaffirms its commitment to advocating for a resilient and competitive private sector and to supporting initiatives that strengthen Dominica’s economic relationships and global reputation.
