The Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC) is reviewing the recent statement made in Parliament by the Honourable Vince Henderson concerning the cap used on bottles of Trois Pitons Water, and his request that the Dominica Bureau of Standards (DBOS) review the matter. Our objective is to better understand the situation accurately and to encourage an appropriate, evidence-based process.
As the voice of the business community, DAIC does not function as a regulator or adjudicator. Our role is to promote due process, constructive engagement, and public confidence. Where concerns arise about any product or entity, we believe the established channels, direct communication, technical assessment, and regulatory testing, are the most reliable path to clarity and fair outcomes.

We respectfully encourage all parties, including regulators and commentators, to follow established procedures before amplifying issues in the public domain, as premature publication can cause unintended and unfair reputational harm across the private sector.
At this time, DAIC is not aware of any official advisory or determination by the Dominica Bureau of Standards indicating that Trois Pitons Water bottle caps are unsafe. We encourage consumers, retailers, and the public to rely on DBOS’s official guidance and any formal notices that may be issued.
President of the Chamber Brenton Hilaire has said “We support the Government’s commitment to public health and standards, and we equally support our private sector’s right to fair, evidence-based review. When concerns are raised, such as the recent concern about bottle caps, there are clear protocols for testing and resolution. I believe that we should use those channels first, to protect confidence in our market, and avoid unnecessary reputational damage while the competent authorities do their work.”
DAIC will seek to continue to engage with the relevant authorities and stakeholders and will provide updates if and where necessary.
