STATEMENT: DOMDA pays tribute to immediate past President Miss Marvlyn Birmingham

On behalf of the Dominica Diabetes Association (DOMDA), we gather our hearts in remembrance of a remarkable leader, advocate, and friend—Miss Marvlyn Birmingham. It is with profound sadness that we acknowledge her passing on Wednesday. 05, February 2025, a tremendous loss for our community and for all those whose lives she touched.

Miss Birmingham was not just the immediate past president of our association; she was a beacon of hope and a tireless warrior in the fight against diabetes. Her unwavering dedication to diabetes advocacy transformed the lives of many in Dominica. She worked endlessly to raise awareness, educate, and support individuals living with diabetes, tirelessly championing the cause with passion and grace.

Her vision for a healthier society was infectious, inspiring countless individuals to take control of their health and well-being. Through her leadership, the Dominica Diabetes Association flourished, launching initiatives that provided essential resources, support, and community engagement. She believed in the power of education and was committed to ensuring that everyone had access to vital information about diabetes management and prevention.

Miss Birmingham’s compassionate spirit and boundless energy will be sorely missed. She was not only a leader but also a mentor and a friend. Her ability to listen, to empathize, and to uplift those around her was a testament to her character. She had an innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life, reminding us that we are all in this together.

As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the indelible mark she has left on our association and the wider community. Her legacy of advocacy will continue to inspire us as we strive to fulfill her vision of a healthier Dominica.     My condolence goes out to the the immediate family of this lady, an acquaintance; shall I say a friend: for years we communicated, until about two years ago we lost contact: I knew she was ill, however never anticipated her passing.
    She was a good Soule; may your Soul rest in eternal peace with God.
