STATEMENT: Dominica-Cuba Friendship Association

The people of the Commonwealth of Dominica stand in unwavering solidarity with the people of the Republic of Cuba. We recognize the immense resilience, courage, and dignity with which the Cuban people have faced over six decades of economic, commercial, and financial blockade.

This unjust and unilateral measure continues to inflict significant hardship on ordinary Cuban citizens restricting access to vital resources, hindering national development, and limiting Cuba’s ability to fully engage with the global community. Despite these challenges, Cuba has remained a beacon of humanitarianism, extending its medical, educational, and technical assistance to nations across the world, including our own Caribbean region.

We affirm that the blockade violates the principles of international law, human rights, and the Charter of the United Nations. It is a relic of an era that no longer serves the interests of peace, cooperation, or mutual respect among nations.

We therefore join our Caribbean brothers and sisters, along with the global community, in calling unequivocally for the immediate and unconditional lifting of the blockade against Cuba.

We express deep appreciation for Cuba’s longstanding friendship, solidarity, and contribution to the social and economic development of Dominica and the wider Caribbean. In this spirit of mutual respect and fraternity, we reaffirm our commitment to continue strengthening the bonds between our peoples.

Let justice, humanity, and solidarity prevail!

Who or what is the Dominica Cuba Friendship Association?? ” the people of the Commonwealth of Dominica”…? That is supposed to include me too?? Who ever you cowards are, SPEAK FOR YOURSELVES.
    Can’t even attach your names?
What have you all done, if anything, regardless of how small, to help Cuba during its prolonged isolation other than TALK ? If memory is correct, only St. Vincent has put its money where its mouth is and shipped a boatload of flower during severe food shortages recently .
With the exception of Ralph Gonsalves, all the countries that benefit from Cuba’s generosity while under the EMBARGO, are leaches. Despite sharing the little they have, you make no attempt to be self sufficient not even with health personnel after all these years!!
Maybe if Dominica is placed under an EMBARGO, it would try to be self sufficient as Cuba has!
I don’t pray with my mouth, I do with my hands. Start doing likewise. It will be greatly appreciated.

I don’t get. How do Dominicans cry for democracy in their country and at the same time support totalitarianism and dictatorships in other countries?

Most of these people don’t have enough intellectual capacity to realize that contradiction. I see some of the same names always crying on the labor government for it’s failures of leadership, supporting governments like the chinese, venezuelan and cuban governments.

Most of them only do that because they see them as adversaries to the U.S. and they hate the U.S. so whoever is adversarial to them must be good. Just low I.Q. reasoning and lack of nuance. Most of these people have never been to any of these places where these authoritarian regimes preside over, they have no idea how the people there live or what their perception of their government is.

The irony is that the same complaints that we have of our government, is the same complaints that majority of the population in those countries have of their government. The only difference is that we have to the freedom to express our grievances while they don’t

This Euro version of democracy -aka feudalism- has failed the world for 400+ years of pure misery and poverty, that’s why. Don’t you think one should educate themselves about it rather than rely on their mainstream media to shape your views?

You’re confusing blockade and US embargo !
There is no blockade of the island at all
Cuba is free to buy and import whatever it wants from hundreds of countries
But Cuban’s are note free … to elect who they want to rule the country
And it is so since 1959 !!!
    Democracy ? or Dictatorship ?

“Cuba is free to buy and import whatever it wants from hundreds of countries.” Surely, you jest! Your ignorance on the subject is glaring.

Talk you all are talking and TAKING like leeches. Did you all ever stood up and said how can you trade with them. A pacific island nation stood at the UN and decided to trade with Cuba and Dominica just cannot reach this level. The political training you all are requesting from them is not going to help them. This is not the type of solidarity they need.

The hurricane just passed this way and this is the statement you all are releasing. There is flooding going on. What are you all doing about it. A sister nation what are you all offering did you all offer and they rejected.
