Swimmer Jasmine Schofield, is set to begin her participation in the 2025 Junior Pan American Games tomorrow, aiming to improve her personal bests and establish new national records for Dominica.
A release from the Dominica Olympic committee shared that in a conversation with the team’s media officer, Jazmine stated that she feels adequately prepared for the upcoming competition.
Schofield noted that her recent experience at the World Aquatic Championships has contributed to her readiness for the PanAm Junior Games. According to the Committee, she currently holds the Dominican national records in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 28.79 seconds and the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:02.94. Her goal is to surpass these times and set new national benchmarks during the events.
Her coach, Shaminey Walsh-Dupuis, reportedly expressed confidence in Jasmine’s potential to deliver strong performances at the Games. Walsh-Dupuis mentioned that with some technical fine-tuning, Jasmine is well-positioned not only to beat her previous times but also to claim new national records in her races.
Jasmine is scheduled to compete in the 100-meter freestyle on Tuesday, August 12, at 9:00 AM PYT / 8:00 AM ECT, followed by the 50-meter freestyle on Wednesday, August 13, at 9:00 AM PYT / 8:00 AM ECT. Both competitions will take place at the aquatics facility within The Paraguayan Olympic Committee’s Olympic Park in Asuncion.
Highlights of the event will be available on the official PanAm Sports YouTube channel and website, while updates on Team Dominica can be accessed through the Dominica Olympic Committee’s Facebook page.
With all due respect, I wish you will not only create a new national record but make your country even prouder by returning with some sort of hardwear (gold, silver or bronze). Show the world that no matter the relatively small size Dominicans push above their weight. Wishing you the greatest of success.
