Tasha P snags fifth Stardom crown

Former Calypso monarch Tasha “Tasha P” Peltier has once again added another crown to her trophy shelf, after emerging victorious at this year’s Stardom Calypso Tent.

This is the fifth time ‘Tasha P’ has won that title.

She wowed the crowd while she gave a solid rendition of her ‘One Chance’ at the show which was held at Anchorage Hotel last night.

“I am feeling very proud and excited about Saturday, most importantly, but I am so grateful for the opportunity to showcase and expose our calypso talent and energy because we don’t want calypso to die,” she told reporters shortly after her crowning. “I am happy we have King Trilla G and hopefully another group of young people coming up.”

Tasha P continued, “We have more females coming up and I just feel so empowered to represent, not just for the ladies, but for all the young people and people of my age and older than I am.”

She described last night as a testament to how powerful calypso can be in Dominica and for the rest of the Caribbean and the world.

“I am happy to be a proud Stardomite and to carry the mantle for another year representing Stardom,” she stated.

Furthermore, she pointed out that her winning song may be simple in words, but the depth lies in the value of the meaning of the phrase, ‘One Chance to live one life.’

“I think it’s way deeper than just the words,” she reflected.

Tasha P continued, “It’s fuller, it means more and it brings people to realize that I only have one chance to win this life, so let me try my best to live it right.”

Meanwhile, she indicated that preparations can be a little tedious, but one has to be very careful with details, “you have to be prepared and not wait until the last minute to do what you need to do.”

She added, “So from the moment you know you made it to the finals, it’s always a hustle, but it’s something that we love and we have a passion for, so it’s very easy to do. It is not something that is hard, except the pressure of everybody expecting you to do your best and you can do anything, nothing less than your best.”

Tasha P is set to perform on the big stage at the grand Calypso finals on Saturday night. She will be performer number 5.

Irrespective of this win, she did not perform to gain a position in the finals. Stop pressing other deserving persons to give preferential treatment to some. Wake up!

That’s what Swinging Stars does every year give Tasha P or Daddy Chess the crown to try to bias the Calypso Finals results
